Modified ZZR250s

Postby Gnome » Wed Mar 09, 2005 1:05 pm

I been checking all over the web and have found no examples of other modified ZZR250s. Not so much as an after market exhaust  ( which I have, amongst other things ). So to any ZZR250 owners, past and present, I would really like to here what mods you made or had made and how they worked out. If there are enough ZZRaphiles keen, then maybe I'll reveal all of my mods  . For QLD members, I'm also looking into starting a riders club for four stroke 250s and singles and will expect the mighty ZZR250 to be well represented, WATCH THIS SITE!!! See you at QR on the 13th and DP on the 20th just look for the ZZR250 with the carbon can.

why mod a ZZR250? seriously for the horsepower available out there on any modern sportsbike why? you can pick up dinosaur bikes like the ever capable GPX600's, GSXR's for less than the cost of a ZZR250 I can't see any reason to do it, waste of dollars.

But then again one would argue why not? blah who knows.

Personally while i love the mighty zzr, if i had extra cash i'd probably save for a zx6 rather than modding.
first mods i'd do would be louder pipe and what it really needs... rearmount seat pegs, not sure the size of the bike would work with them though.

nah its all about the personal satisfaction of going around all manor of bigger bikes in twistie terain jibers and of course its way better than having nobikeatall. :)

I just got rid of my 250 (well actually its in the garage and he is suposed to pick it up on the weekend) otherwise i would think it a good idea, a lot of people underestimate them and they are cheap as chips to mod up not to mention the price of tyres.

Its all about corner speed on them because there isnt a whole lot of hp going on and if you trash it its still all good because you will probably find another one somewhere for 500 bucks for parts.

if your into dumb/stupid humor (and i am)
such ideas are potentially more fun than a barrell of monkeys.

at last year's toy run
a bloke was exhibiting a ZZR250 drag bike he built for his 16yo son.
all he had done was fit a turbo and elongate the swing arm.
(turbo was from a diahatsu or maybe suzuki swift)

another possiblity to explore,
imagine the novelty a two-fiddy with NOS.
