i realised that with the zx6r 4.5k rev is more than enough on normal day to day riding and gives mroe than adequate power for the bike, however, is it always better to rev higher to the mid range mark? like 8k in the 250cc???? or it's gona shorten the life of the engine???

or if i keep it low in rev all da time i heard then the bike won't go as fast as the ones rev high all da time after a while ????

like i have to rev it high from time to time once to keep the peformance up???

am i rite????? in any way????

If there's one thing engines don't like, it's being lugged, and 4,000rpm on a 600 is verging on that. I don't even ride my ZX9 at such low revs.

Letting it spin isn't going to hurt it.

Well my bike (05 636) was run in hard, none of this don't go past 4000 rpm crap and I haven't had any issues so far. The motor is noisey, but then again its a kwaka so it should be. I've done 20,000 km in a year and I just found out they have a fifth and sixth gear (actualy I was worried on the Halls Gap trip when she was strugling at just over 200 gazelles, then i saw the shift light come up went ok after selecting fifth then sixth).

I ran mine in hard, nothing like the Kawasaki manual recommends & change the oil/filter every 2500km's or less depending on how often & hard I ride it.


I don't think it will pop an engine if you nana on it but maybe there is a possibility of glazing the cylinders, but I think even doing that would be rare today.....

How many km's are you planning on doing with this bike? because if you are not going to do 100,000km's on it, then it may not matter how you ride it...

you probably dont want to be reving it over 9000rpm around town, between 4 000 and8000 is about right.

Do reguler oil and filter changes I do oil around 3000 but can get up to 4000kms and filter every second change and the oil comes out fairly clean looking with zero sludge buildup.

The bike should warmup in around 3 minutes but i always wait till i have a reading on the temp gauge before i am going anywhere and ride it fairly gently till its up to running temp.

If i am at the track and the bike has come off the trailer i let it idle till the thermo fan cuts in half a hour before any riding is going on and turn it off and let it heat soak.

Havnt had any engine problems with 6r at all soo if their all like mine they got the engine right.

I find that I spend most of my time around town in the 4 > 8k range.... when out in the sticks Its 8 upwards.... Your model of 636 (same as mine) has plenty of midrange, so you dont have to make it sound like a honda... the wifey's GixxerSixxer has to keep the revs a bit higher because of the missing midrange...

that's what i do too, and it always comes up and tell me from 40 degree , yeah i before then i pretty much push the bike from the park lot to the front gate
