Oil Leak from Clutch slave cylinder (95 zxr750)

Ive got a bit of a Dribbler oil leak here. And by looking at the Manual and on the microfiche im unable to see any seals what so ever.
I took the clutch slave cylinder off and the area infront of the piston had 40ish mls of oil . Also I noticed there wasn't any gasket or sealent of anysort on the faces of the slave cylinder and engine casing. is this right??
If anyone can give me any ideas why oil is leaking out of here especially when the oil presure builds up at higher revs and when im riding the bike. Letting it site on the stand and free reving it doesn't cause the oil to squirt out.

EDIT: AND yes it is oil. As I had close call as even riding 20 kms it was enough to cover the fairing and dribble infront of the back tyre

i have the very first of these models, and it doesnt have, nor require a seal.....if it does, then i cant explain why mines not leaking....

i just had a look at the manual, and theres definately no seal thats required for the J-M models either....

......hope this helps...

There is a seal for the clutch pushrod, that sits in the transmission cover (the cover behind the front sprocket) ; on an L you need to remove the cover, and replace the seal from the inside.

The part you're looking for is 92049-1017 ; you can see it as part 92049 on the Engine Covers page of the buykawasaki.com fiche for this model.

Cheers,
Brian

No worries mate, it's an easy job, just a bit messy. Sing out if you need any guidance.

Also, have a close look at the pushrod, and make sure there's no marks or burrs on it which would damage the seal ; obviously, it should be smooth to the touch.

Cheers,
Brian

YEah . why cant oil be like. ummm hand cream or something!!

Ive had a quick look at the pushrod when I took the slave cylinder off and that was nice a smooth.

While that cover is off I might as well replace the sprocket shaft seal and the Gear leaver shaft seal as well..

Ordered the bits this arvo

I see what you mean by Messy... :?

Nice and easy until I took off the front sproket cover.. Amazing what you pick up with a heap of sticky chainlube.. 2 nuts and a washer that is not mine and not from the bike!!

Damn water pump was stopping 2 bolts as well. So off they went.. aahhhhh Oil..
put pump back in. Get oil pan. drain oil :P
Now I have to buy a big assed socket to get the front sproket off.

You should also use an impact driver to undo the phillips-head screws holding the cover on ; chances are they'll get wrecked just using a screwdriver.

Also, remember you'll need a gasket for the cover.

Cheers,
Brian

I orderded the Cover gasket, Clutch pushrod seal and while Iwas at it Front sproket spline seal thing..

Ive got my trusty impact screw driver ready!. I actually didn't even see the phillips head screws there until I removed around 1cm thick Chain lube, Dirt, 2 nyloc nuts encased to chainlube and a washer!!

Is it possible to remove the transmission cover with the engine still in the bike?
