G'day boys,

Mmmmm very nice indeed, and who amongst us could say no to a new Kwaka. But ... I recently purchased the 05 ZX-10R for a number of reasons.

Firstly, I have to say that while I spend 90% of my time on the track, looks still matter, and the front (eyes) of the bike certainly doesn't do it for me. The rear is just as bad, and while there is some argument over how advantagous the under seat exhaust is, my opinion is that it doesn't help when there is this much bulk. Not to mention the heat element, and the proximity of the collector to the rear shock.

Secondly, I like the powere to weight ratio of the '05 model, and haven't experienced any downside to the snappy, aggressive nature - in fact, I love it. The '06 model's additional weight and slightly reduced power (even if it is delivered more smoothly) was a surprise to me, but if it takes 2 seconds off a lap, that definitely says something, doesn't it.

And finally, I was lucky enough to not only get a great price on the run out model, but it included a Track Kit.

Al in all, if I were to be offered a swap, I'd take it. But have to say, I'm not at all interested in uograding to the '06 model - but let's see what '07 brings.

Cheers

Simon

It is fun isn't it

I'm sure the '07 will be an '06 with a few different colours and minor mods...the '08 might be a different matter though 8)

Simon, glad you're enjoying "the Ten"... must say it's a pleasure to watch it in action and I think you'll have a lot more fun on it than you did on the ZX9... and Dutchie will be flat out keeping up on the Gixxer now!

I'm definitely a fan of the 05 model (certainly one of the best looking bikes ever released) with the menacing front end and tidy rear - for lack of a better word the new one looks a bit sad!

That said, I'll be interested to see if it grows on me as the K5 Gixxer has.

Shifty, I take it we know each other. Can't think of who I spoke to about Dutchies Gixxer coming out of turn 2 at QR.

I could keep you guessing... but how many people do you know who have been converted from beaten up old Kawasakis to a VTR1000? :)

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Going by the review then the 06 model seems to win hands down apart from cosmetic appeal. I've never ridden either (perhaps I'm too scared ) so the attitude/fun thing mike make a difference too.

That said, if you're purely after something for the track why would you not want the bike that is easier/safer to ride and cuts considerably faster lap times!?

If only I had the funds to whimsically purchase the new model of my bike every time it was updated! :D

So is that the 06 model you're getting with an 05 plate, then?
