You are not helping me justify the purchase Rob, because I have to agree to an extent...........but it’s a RR.

I doubt whether anyone other tha an A grader could ride a stock litre bike to its limit Joe so on that basis any 1000 is a waste on the road.

You only live once mate, go and do it.

I'm not an A grader and I still want more power than my gen 4 ZX10 has. ;) It took me a few track days, but after a while I started to ring its neck and wanted more. That being said though, I wouldn't want to ride it on the road; it's just way too easy to go way too fast on and I'd probably get myself into trouble. Those that have a gen 5 at the track, say they're a huge step up from the gen 4 and are hard to even get the most out of them on the track. I just can't imagine why someone would need anything that quick for the road.

I don't have a problem riding my Gen 4 on the road, I guess partly because I don't race but I still surprise myself at how easy it is to get around at a fast pace. I was initially looking at upgrading to a Gen 5 after riding one at Wakefield, didn't do it as the trade in was crap....The suspension was better as were the brakes I didn't notice the better midrange ( it was a track after all ) but all reports say it is better. Just those 3 things in my book would make it a better road bike than the Gen 4. I don't think anyone needs a bike like the 10 for the road, if I was thinking like that I would have stayed with the 7 it has enough power for the road but the handling is worlds apart even after an Ohlin’s shock, revalved forks, magnesium wheels and removing 16kg.

Don't ask yourself or anyone else if you should buy it. Ask yourself how you would feel in 12 months time if you don't buy it.
Your decision is an emotional one and has nothing to do with logic. Saying all of that I would be handing over my money if I had that chance.

Haha, gen 4's don't have any mid range! It's nothing until 10k RPM and then 'holy shit, hang on'. I can't imagine the gen 5 being much different, but, they do have 20hp more, so that might feel like the mid range is ok. The geometry, suspension and brakes are definitely a huge improvement.

Is your gen 4 stock?

No I have removed the cat and added a Akrapovic link pipe + muffler and added a Ohlin's shock.

Cant blame you though it was a great bike to ride. I would have liked to have it for the day to really get to know it. Have you got a trade in price for yours yet?

I didn't go back on that post because I still don't want to update to a standard 10 but a RR. :)

I did visit a dealer on Saturday and he told me 10-12K for a trade in, if I go for the RR I will sell my 10 to try and get a better price.

I am not 100% Dave, about 95% still trying to justify the cost and "what if I don't like it". But the other half is making good points to get myself something special for my 50th birthday this year. :kuda:
