Autumn cleaning

Postby photomike666 » Wed Apr 02, 2014 10:10 am

My 10 had been parked up for quite some time, and am just getting it back on the road. Two weeks ago it got a full service, K&N air filter, fork seals and a rocket cover gasket. At 40,000km shims are still in tolerance!

Prior to roadworthy & rego I decided to give Bluey a thorough strip down & clean, plus a new chain & sprockets.

This was yesterday afternoon...

There was a lot of gunk inside the sprocket cover & along the chain guide - luckily Kero makes light work of removing it.

Still have a few panels to refit, but it fired up sweet [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]

How many cars drove past and slowed to see if they could see a rider down :p I take it you don't have a shed?

Have a double garage where I stripped it down, just rolled it down the drive for the wash.

^Fair call, makes it look all busted up sitting on the side of the road :) I have my 20k coming up on my 9, still undecided on wether or not to get the shims checked? Leaning on the side of no, but will see.

Mate thats a lot of work for a bike that doesn't do that many road ks,i never did that with any of my nines even the one that did 190,000 plus.Good on ya for having the motivation to pull all that plastic shit of and then put it back on for a dusting.
On another note this is what I am waiting for except in a ute version. Here is hoping that they release it in a ute. 5.0 litre supercharged. If they do I will waiting in line. :D :D :D

To be honest Mal, it's the first time in 7 years some of those parts have been cleaned.

Plus in the coming months I'm planning on adding to the 40,000 I've already put on it.

Yeah well I certainly don't do as many ks these days since going retail,in fact in the last month I have probably done 400 ks on the road and 250 ks on the track.
