QuickShifter Power Commander QEM vs Annitori

Postby shannony » Wed Jan 09, 2013 9:09 pm

Hi Guys,

Yet again turning to the advice and experience of the KSRC gents. Am considering a quickshifter module for the 2012 ZX-10 and have to ask the question of people that have been here and tried this and learnt the hardway.

I have a PCV installed and i can either go down the road of the Quickshifter QEM module and push rod sensor which as far as i can gather hooks up to the secondary injectors on the bike and has no connection to the coil/ignition so is doing its power cut on fuel alone ?? Or at least some part with fuel ?

Whilst in the RED corner the Annitori seems to do it the correct way and cuts ignition during the shift which seems to be a bit nicer to the engine/Gear box according to the GLOSS.

So what do you all recommend ? Mind you the majority of this bikes life will be on the road trying to avoid speeding fines but will fine its way to the track when my ZX7 isnt looking :) "she gets upset!"

Shannon !

If you have pcv, then go the dynojet one.
It's more adjustable (cut time and what revs it will operate between)

Nothing wrong with the fuel cut method to change gears, works a treat!

Thanks for that Baddie if i decide to go down that road i will be in touch for a good deal :) .
I am not planning on installing the Power commander Ignition module so it will be fuel only and by the looks of things in US$ at least they look about the same price if not the Annitori a little cheaper ?

I aggree that the Power commander can be tuned when and when not to work but if i just us the clutch at low rev changes it is not going to make a difference anyway i am guessin ?

100% correct. I have the Annitori and it works a treat. at low speeds I just use the clutch. It will work in both std or race shift. There are 0 moving parts and as you have already found out its a spark cut not fuel so is easy on the gear box.
I love my new ZX10. It scares the shit out of me.

I've got a 2011 ZX10 with the Annitori and a 2010 ZX6 with an HM QS. The HM is slightly better as it uses less memory by choosing between road and race shift. There's not a whole lot in it but for the price the Annitori wins. Annitori are by HM under licence.

Is it possible to fit a QS without having a PCV or fuel management system. I'm in the market for my 2012 ZX10R but wasn't sure if I NEED anything extra. From what I understood of the HM site it would fit straight on. Is that true? Will only fitting the QS damage my engine/ gear box?

Yep, you can. The Annitori doesn't require you to have an aftermarket fuel management system. Same for the HM. And no, it won't damage your engine/gearbox... you will however be forever spoiled by how awesome it is to have a quickshifter.

I had the dynojet (along with Ignition module and PCIII) and then the Bazzaz QS. The Bazzaz is 10x easier to setup and adjust and, IMHO, works better too! Only one thing does it, no need for all this different boxes under the seat and etc. But the thing I really didn't like about the Dynojet unit is that it was #$^U#$%#$%$ hard to get it to work well after readjusting the pegs. I had to play with it, then the mount etc... :? I'm sure things have changed since then but if I had my time over again, I'd either stick with the Bazzaz or go for the Annitori. I only had problem with the Bazzaz QS once and that's cause I got too greedy when adjusting the kill time (I had something ridiculous like 30ms) and it wouldn't change from 5th to 6th every time.

I have the HM QS on my '06 ZX10, was VERY easy to fit (once I got the bike apart) and works a treat! :D
...... Just to chuck in another brand and confuse things more

So what's the best one to run on an '04 ZX10 with a Powercomander? I remember something about Madkaw having trouble with putting one on.

Someone at the track the other day said I would gain half a second by fitting one. Was he full of shit or are they that good to have?

Unless you are actually using the clutch now, there's no way you'd make up half a second.
I never got to use mine, I broke it before I plugged it in.
But I did wire it to a button in the handlebar and it worked a treat with PC3.

Trick with them is not to lean on it, you need to change gears sharply.
