New 2013 ZX10R

Postby MH434 » Tue Dec 11, 2012 5:41 am

Hello:)
I'm already planning mods and update's for my 13 ZX10r(haven't got it yet) and i was wondering how much you guys raise your rear end?
I was told shimming the rear shock changed the handling of the bike in a positive way.

My bike will be both used on track and street and is orderd with a öhlins TTX

I was thinking to start out at 7mm. A good start you think?

Hope to get some opinions:)

I would ride it stock for quite a while before I go changing what the boffins at Kawasaki spend a lot of money setting up!
2009 Kawasaki Ninja 650R Green
2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R Black/Green (Track Bike)
1998 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R Green - "Fluffy" (Track Bike)

+1

mate you need to get a feel for the bike first before you start modding anything. How will you know if shimming the back end works *for you* ?? just because it has worked for some other punter on a different model 10 does not mean it will work the same for you on a brand-new bike.

Best bet is to get a suspension specialist to dial in the OEM suspension for your weight and intended riding style - then do some track days and see how that goes.

Would be a bit chilly to be riding up your way at the moment anyway wouldn't it ? ;)

What I have done to my 2011 track bike may not work for you. There is more too it than just raising the rear ride height that I can tell you.

Anyway, set the sags and you will know a little more, better still and because you are asking and can afford a ttx you can afford a good suspension tuner to dial it in ;)

Have you or do you plan to do anything to the forks?

Crank the rear shock up full way first and see what happens. This is what the Kawasaki factory boys did for me after taking my height and weight and I haven't had to change it - not a demanding track rider mind you. Jonno and Maccarocks are the Gurus for the current series so listen to their views first.

Hope you love the bike as much as I do.It's a gem and the best value performance package on the market.
