NATT (Not Another Tyre Thread) ZX10R

Sorry ( not really ) i know these are like oil threads, just want an idea of what most of you ZX10R riders are using for your sticky stuff, looking at a more fast road riding tyre with some wet capability, anyone using Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2/ Rosso Corsa, or Metzler K3 Racetech? Putting up with the OEM Bridgestones at the moment but not a fan of them.

Not that I comment on the longevity of the Mezetler M5's, they were a lot better than the OEM BT016s on the 6 and more so in the wet.

forgot to mention the metzler m5 interact, this was the last tyre i had on my speed triple and was happy with it, although how does it perform with the zx10r with a lot more power, and tip in on cornering?

For track I have Diabalo super corsa, not good in the wet though. I found a pair if power 2ct for the road. Good in the wet, no issues with spirited road riding in the dry. Getting hard to find now though

Yes, on the Pirelli Site the Super Corsa are more for the track,thats why i was lookin at the Rosso or Corsa 2 which are more road and wet biased than the track orientated Super Corsa, thanks for the input though good to get some experienced advice
Not a fan of Michelin either,had some Pilot Road on my previous ZX6R.

The pilot road is harder tyre I'd commute with. The pilot power was softer with a more pointy profile, better for play. The 2ct is duel compound, centre is the same as the pilot power & the edges are softer again (same as the pilot race track tyre).

Metzler M5 probably the best of both worlds,unfortunatly cant give u milage as i had some shit luck and punctured both rears that i had.copped with spirited riding reefton spur etc.Qualifier 2s pretty good as well but blink and they are worn out.Mostly dry riding but capable if caught in a rain shower Bridgestone 003s.Run the bridgestone on the trackbike but finish them off on the road take a little longer to warm up than the metzlers but once there on there on

I've only been riding on the tire for a month but so far it's great!!!! Metzler produces a great tire and Motorcycle Superstore gives a good price. The tire warms up quick and sticks to the road like glue. I have a lot of confidence in the leans around corners. I get good feedback from the tire and a great handle on the road.

I went from the Sportec M3s to these, and the M5s are a huge leap in the right direction. Don't get me wrong, the M3s are still a great supersport tire and lasted me well over 6k miles of twisties and commuting. I took the M5s to VIR North earlier this week and the confidence they gave was amazing. They warmed up half way through the first lap of each session and performed better than my expectations. I'm glad I decided to stick with the elephant.

These tires are amazing. I rode to Philadelphia from Detroit the weekend after I got them. I got rained on hard on the way down there but had complete confidence on the freeway with these tires. I was still able to lean hard even in the rain and never felt the slightest slip.

This tire, for the price, is a great buy. I have ran the M-1 series for about 5 yrs and then tried this tire. love it! stability is great through all areas of the corner and tread life is great; I am at 1700 miles and barely see usage on the tire even carving through mountains. holds true to Metzeler performance.

I finally got these tires installed on my Ducati 1098 and took it for a ride this past weekend. It's the rainy season in California this time of year so I was really anxious to check these tires out given the great reviews stating the tires performed well in wet conditions. I've been riding for over twenty years and have to say this is the best set of tires I've ever used in wet conditions. Carved through the Berkeley Hills and out to the Coast despite all the rain we've been getting and was soooooo impressed by these tires. I'm so glad I didn't go back with the stock Pirelli tires that came on the bike - the stock tires lasted less than 3000 miles so am hoping these tires give better quality. The grip on these tires is outstanding. The harder I rode the more my confidence built. When the ride was finished the scrub on the tires was all the way to the outside. I was able to accelerate head out of corners and had no slip whatsoever. The Ducati is a torque monster and these tires gripped no matter what I threw at it - even in the wet roads! My first set of Metzelers but will definitely put these on my R1 and CBR when they're due for replacements.

I just bought these tires and they gave me the old spiel about take it easy on the new set of tires. So I gave them a good work up just tooling around town. After I thought they were warm I gave them a good test and they grip like no other. They are amazing!!! I don’t think I will be putting anything else on my bike except these.

The control you have in a curve is amazing. This tire gives you the ability to change lines in a curve without even thinking about it. I may look into a steering damper because the ease you can turn your handle bars even a higher speeds. I hope you will be as satisfied with this tire as I am. Great workmanship Metzeler !

I have used these for a long time. Bought a bike with new PP Michelins. I liked them, but they do not last. When starting to wear, they slip really bad. I went back to my M5's and staying there.

Been riding Metzelers since I've been riding. Just wore out a set of M1 on my 05 R1 which were awesome but wanted to try the M5. Best move I've ever made! Rode the rain at high speeds with NO slip! Been up to 185mph and was smooth as glass! True, they may not last long but I only got two tires on the ground so grip is more important than millage!!! If you’re Superbiking this is the only way to go!!!

At first I thought the M5 Interacts was just another tire but after my brother told me he runs them on his R1 I put a set on my FZ1 and since then put 7000 miles on them these tires are a great tire I highly suggest them for any rider.

So far I’ve only ridden the bike for a week after getting the tire on, but so far I’ve noticed a nice improvement with it on my Hayabusa, cornering has about the same feel as the M3, actual traction feels a bit better as the bike seems to have a bit more lift and less spin up. Overall I can’t say anything for tread life as of yet. But so far worth the extra cash.

All around good tire. Wet and dry traction is excellent. I marked it a 4 for tread life because it's a softer tire so it won't last as long.

Purchased about two months ago. Love it, got caught in a thunder storm and didn't miss a beat. Best tire in wet weather I have ever used. Talk about knee dragging, these are the best choice. Don't know about tread life I only put about 500mi. On them they still look and handle like new. Be sure to give em an initial smoking when you first put them on nothing crazy just to remove the mold film. Oh yeah, I got a matching set.

All-around great tire. Grip, feel, and wet/dry performance have been superb. Mileage has been lackluster on my 2007 Suzuki Hayabusa, as I've been seeing around 1.7k miles per rear tire and roughly twice that on the front. I ride fairly aggressively with some highway miles and lots of twisties, but the stretches of riding to reach the twisties leave me with that $50 worth of rubber on the sides with nearly every tire change.

The elephant has already died... I have about 450 on the rear and the feedback is excellent. The roll-in is pretty much equal to others, acceleration at apex is strong, impressive. TP's are critical! My HWY is chip sealed and I drive 51 miles of twisties daily through the mountains so mileage is something I cannot expect out of any tire. The wet traction is incredible, again, IMPRESSIVE! My last set of BS 016, 1974 miles.....stick a fork in them. Overall... GREAT tire, way to go Metz!!
3,400 miles on a S1000RR

Great street tire. Have lasted 3,400 miles on a S1000RR with a 520 conversion and -1/+3 lower gearing, and that includes a day at VIR. For track use I'm going back to the Racetech K3s for added peace of mind when fully leaned over. Will get 4,000 out of them before I have to replace them (with another set of M5s). So good, I've put a set of M5s on my Ducati Monster 1100S. Definitely recommend them, and you will also have a lot of fun scuffing the elephant.

I used the K2 on my 10R when it was on the road, much better than the oem 016's which were ok, the 10R is setup for them as a dedicated trackbike now, I swear by these and they work ok in mildly wet conditions

On my 12R i use nothing but the M5 as they have proved to be the best allrounder for a heavier bike, I dont think I would use M5's on the 10 when it was on the road when comparing them to the K2.

The only thing Michelin make that I would use are dirtbike tyres, even then there are better tyres around.

I'm hoping the Pilot Pures are the bees knees as I'm picking up 2 sets on Monday won't know how they behave until my next track day on ... Oh shit! Sep 9th

They will be fine i am sure, I bag out Michelin because of the very poor run I have had from them on roadbikes, saying that I have never used Pures.

got pures on my 7, never again.... as i explained somewhere here the other day, well the front anyway, hence just buying a power one off macca, pure coming off, and getting binned.

Is that the Metzler Racetec K2? On their website they have K3 for the road and K0,K1 and K2 for the track?? Had the M5 on my Speed Triple (probably considered a heavier bike than a sportbike)and was happy with them,how do you think they would differ on a lighter sport bike ?
