ZX14 with Comfort Kit

Postby Mattjin » Thu Dec 15, 2011 7:19 am

I am looking at obtaining a second bike to compliment my Zed, and the ZX14 is quickly rising to the top of the list. The only thing is that due to previous spinal injuries I need a relatively upright bike. The 1400GTR popped up but it is a little too soft and "old-man" for me. So has anyone on here done the handlebar conversion and was it effective?

I put risers on mine, made a big difference to the wrist discomfort ;)

I have been out test riding ZX14s and I quite like them. I looked at the Genmar's which are 1" higher so a little better for me, but I can see a handlebar conversion being the way to go. Either a CNC or an LSL kit and a lowered footpeg set.

I am still going to check out some GTRs over the xmas break. I already have the Zed for fun and only want the second bike for long trips and commuting. Still, the ZX14 is top of the list at the moment.

I have lower back issues also. I bought a Spiegler / LSL / ABM Superbike Kit.

Here is a link on what I have done to my bike.
http://darwinstreetbikes.com/index.php?topic=871.0

I bought my bar riser kit from: http://www.streetfightersinc.com/Kawasa ... r-Kits.htm

$540 for the complete kit. Difference is night and day. You will have a hard time doing anything over 260kph. Maneuvering in traffic and general riding is soo much better.

Good luck with it. :D

HI I just got your msg on Facebook - sorry the bars were removed 2 nights ago and I never got any shots with it on lock.
I can assure you that the clutch & brake fluid reservoirs clear the screen and no cutting is required.
Also, the bars can go lock to lock without touching the tank.

With he stock bars back on I'm finding it awful to ride now - I'm too used to the upright seating position.
