LOL decided on the 2008 model. 2009+ out of reach financially.

Going to test ride a 2008 model during the week and if all is good then I will buy it.

Found one for $7K.

Well to give you an update i finally bought a bike . I ended buying a 2005 ZX6R (636). Absolutely love it. nice clean bike.

mmm 636...yummmm! I had one and regret selling it. I'll buy another one day. I still think they are one hot looking bike. Z,GPz, ZXR, ZX7R and 05 636 are all iconic shapes I reckon. Some will disagree with the 636 being in there, but god damn, I reckon they are still hot! Oh...and they steer a bit good too.....

Their was a blue 636 running around at broady a little while ago.. but it had pink girlie sticker's on it

Great choice mate, personally much prefer the 636s to the pre-09 6s. I can't say anything about post-09 6s cos I haven't had the privilege yet ;(. Maybe oneday when I go outside again, someone will be kind to me?

Hey sorry this might be the wrong area to post this but i want to continue from my thread.

Went for my first long ride today on the ZX6r and all went well in the morning.

The evening a different story. Lucky for the crash knobs as i managed to drop the bike on its side 3 times with no damage or scratches as i was able to place it down.

The first 2 times was maneuvering a u-turn at slow speed and the bike tilted beyond the balance point that i could control. the third was when i pulled over to the side of the road and the camber of the road made the bike lean too much to the left once again going beyond the point of me being able to keep the bike upright. Luckily people were able to help me in all situations.

My question is if there is a way to stop this happening? what advice can people give on slow u turn or cornering knowing that i am only 170 cm and i have trouble putting my feet flat on the floor which is why i have trouble keeping the bike upright when it is about to lean too much.

Cornering and u turns is so much different on this bike compared to my EL250 cruiser.

throttle it a bit more and use the rear brake for u turns that dont require feet on the ground..

To practice this find a big empty carpark and start doing circles decreasing the radius gradually, keep the engine revs up/constant and now start using the rear brake doing the same thing, when your comfortable with that then apply it some more maintaining the same engine revs, you will find your circles will tighten. Keep trying you will get it

Also find better spots to u turn and stop.

I'm not sure if you've done any courses but I really recommend them.

Stay upright, hart etc have a few.. I did one recently and got a lot out of it, and I have a lot of road riding experience. My missus did one too that really seemed to make her riding like night and day to what it was before, she's what I'd call a novice, but just doing a course really gave her a lot more confidence and it really shows in her riding.

PS re dropping the new bike right off restrictions, I wouldn't worry too much... I think most of us have been there. Maybe get some boots with thicker soles though and don't be afraid to feather that clutch and keep the revs higher for slow speed manoeuvring, and counter lean..

THanks guys. Good advice from both of you. Jpaddo I definetely think i will be taking the courses with stay upright as i don't want to continue dropping the bike. Dropping it has certainly shaken me a little but certainly has not broken my confidence to continue persuing my love for riding. I want to not be able to drop it because everytime I did i had to stop another car to get someone to help me pick the thing back up :S. The fun of being only 170cm.
