Hey, does anyone know if adding the Akra link pipe option make it run too lean?

On the 09+ ZX6R the link pipe replaces the OEM secondary resonator; you're not removing the CAT; so technically AFR should not change.

I did email akra the exact same question; response.

Mines going on a 2011 ZX10R, so i believe the CAT is in the box so to speak...

Matt Walters had an 11 ZX10R blow up at PI last year i think.

Was running a Leo Vince full system and no PC3/5 whatever.

Blurr and Madkaw were talking to him about it i think?

Cheers, well i installed it all last night but this morning i get the odd pop on partial rpm when slowing down maybe 3-4 times on a 30min ride and only in 1st or 2nd gear...engine temp was no more than normal...

i understand the issues running a full system with no PC etc due to the change in the flow of the headers but a slip on with a link pipe? not sure 100% where the cat is on the '11 10R's and how much the A/F is effected by removing it. I guess i will chuck it on a dyno to be safe for now then get a PCV.

A dealer reckoned all new bikes run a little lean from factory to help with fuel consumption, noise etc etc but reckoned if I kept the stock headers there was no need for a PC. Thats on my zx6. No problems 12 months on :)

With the stock headers I reckon you'd be safe but I guess you've spent that much a dyno run couldnt hurt. Let us know how you go :)

Will do... I thought the opposite that all bikes ran a bit rich to cover ADR etc...

The torque difference from just 4k onwards is massive feels like a extra 50cc

I thought the same but he assured me otherwise for pollution blah blah blah but reckoned the ECU should respond well with the link and new pipe! It did ;) Sounds like yours has too :D

That may be true; but that statement is not mentioned in the akra optional link pipe installation manual for +09 ZX6R.

Of course the fuelling will change when you take the nutbag muffler out, If your thinking of this then you would be doing a tuneup to suit with pcv, you will need the oem lambda sensor to make it work with the oem system unless you want to go race tune then you are on your own.
AFAIK at the moment serco (oz power commander distributor) still has not got the autotune to work and I have been waiting, not important but slack at almost a year.

Just Spoke to Mark at Serco and he recommends not running a auto tune at all and just go the custom map...
