Six's vs Nines

Postby Blackzxr » Tue Jun 08, 2004 9:32 am

Time to upgrade and i'm not sure what to get. I will test ride a few bikes and make a decision then. And no i can't afford the 10.
We have a heap of members, with ZX6's and 9's, so i want to generate a bit of a discussion and get your opinions.

Depends which six you were looking at. The 2003 zx6r (636) is a great bike and would be my choice over the zx9 as its got all the mod cons. That is if you like the track and carving twisty roads though...

If you want something that you don't need to ring its neck and is comfortable any of the 9's are great and good value at the moment.

I found my wifes 98 zx6 felt like a toy after getting off a zx7 or 9 but it certainly went as good as the 7 and was much easier to throw around, I wouldn't consider it an upgrade though.

Take them all for a ride and see what fits...

How about the z1000..?

I 'd be happy with the zx6r '04 or the zx10r if it was in my budget.
But the deals on the zx9r at the moment would be hard to ignore.
So I'd test ride them all think about its main use and what I want out of it
then make up my mind.

To be honest I am looking at upgrading myself mid to end of next year if all goes well and I'm going to look at the zx6r or the zx10r and I'd be happy with either.
Then again the zx9r's at PeterSteven looked tempting

Yoda,

i thought they stopped making the 7r at the end of '01 or '02.

Like mario said the deals for the 9r will be very good at this time of year.

I reckon the 9r is nice, looks good and more powerful but not a easy to ride as the 6r i guess cos of its size compared to the 6r.

here's my input, for what it's worth.
The six is a smart looking bike and is capable of keeping up with the 9 accelleration wise but just loses out at top end........but then again where in Australia do you get to use it?
I chose the 9 for two reasons :
1. Most of the time I'm 2 up and the extra cc's makes it easier on me and the engine
2. Bloody good pricewise

Just one other thing to consider, the insurance and registration on a 9 is cheaper than a 6...at least here in the ACT for a rider of my age and experience it is. That was one of the level headed justifications I gave the Minister of Finance to cover up for the ones based on other parts of my anatomy...

ahem, I was referring to my heart of course

i understand cos one of my mates told me the same thing and i didnt believe him until i asked a dealer.

they should take it of the webiste. Suzuki is not advertising the tlr anymore why should kawasaki advertise the 7r.

not that i've been looking at the suzuki site. i'm 100% kawaka.

I've an '03 636, its a great bike, however, if you have any intention of taking a pillion, get the 9 also expect to get some work done on the suspension, it can only be descirbed as HARSH, otherwise I love it

Mina
They're all carbed .

Had a look at Action motorcycle's web site. Quite a few zx9r's and zx6r's.

They want 14,999 +orc for second hand '03 zx9r's thats $1000 more than the new ones at Peterstevens !
and they want $10,490 for '01 zx6r's+orc
