ZX6R, ZX10R, ZX14R, Ninja 1000 etc

04 zx10r

can someone tell me about the 04-05 10r , my 10r has a compliance build date of 11/04 dose this make my bike a propper 04 or is it technicly a 05 model, and did kawasaki water down the HP on the 05 models. cheers for any help. :kuda:

they are the same except for a minor change to the top out springs in the forks.

if your bike has a black belly pan it is an 04 "model" if it has a greyish metalic bellypan its is an 05 "model".

it will always be an 04 build. :shock:

HP same, i think there may have been a little gear selector change or something too. nothing spectacular but.

oh and on the 04 model the "R" on the ductail is goldy yellow, and it has yellow front indcators.

on the 05 the "R" is red and its got clear forn indicators 8)

thanks for the good info mate, my bike has a grey belly and the r is red, but it has orange indicators, ? also dose any one know why my FI light is flashing intermitently when you turn of the engine, engine starts and runs fine. :kuda:

The 05 also has the much improved roller bearing detent arm.. but you can't see that unless you pull out the clutch basket.

Certainly no watering down of HP... :-)

Red FI light flashing is the immobilizer warning light

05 ZX10R also have orange indicator lenses from factory .. its 06 onwards that have clear lenses ;)

^^^^^^^^ so the FI light always flashes when the bike is not runing?? , i would have thought they would have a seperate light for the emobiliser. anyways thanks to all for the great info. cheers :kuda:

the FI light only flashes when the engine is turned of though, if there was a fault the light should indicate when the motor is runing??? not sure.

FI light is on when the bike is running & there is a probelm, when the bike is off the light flashes as a deterant

The FI light flashes for 24 hours after you shut the bike down..
