Pillion pegs for a 7

Postby mattyv74 » Wed May 26, 2004 2:01 pm

Guys, after seeing all the trick bikes on the GOR ride last Sunday( I won't name any in particular coz I don't want to stroke people's egos, Hehehehehe) I've been inspired to pull my finger out and finish some of the Stuff for my bike.
I'm re-doing my exhaust at the moment and would like to go the high mount option.
Problem is that the right rear foot peg is already against the muffler can.
Does any one know if some of the later 6's and 9's or even earlier zxr's have shorter peg brackets?
I could just remove them all together but I'd like to keep the Pillion option. I could also modify the route of the header tube, but that would put the can on a funny angle.
Any ideas?????

Matt
I dont know but I do know that Micron and some of the other makers
have high mount as an option. So maybe a quick look around their web sites may come up with an idea.
I'm sure they make high mount and still keep the pillion pegs.

Mina, the bike has been tuned for high flow muffler(had the fuel mixture richened). It's only got the stock system on it at the moment, the good one is all smashed up in my shed after I had a little get off last summer. So it loads up a bit in traffic or a particulary cold day.
As for the high mount idea, it's purley a vanity thing. Some people claim it's for more ground clearance, but the pegs hit the ground long before the exhaust. Tell me the systems that mario posted doesn't look cool??
And I want it to sound as nice as yours. :D

Why add the extra weight??? Thats gotta be at least a couple hundred grams of extra tubing.

And to be honest, I don't think the highmount jobs look all that flash.

Hi Jase, taste is a funny thing hey. Going from the stocky to carbon will save about 4kg, so I figure a slightly smaller weight gain is worth the looks.
I weigh about 15-20 kg less than the average rider, and besides, I can always have an extra pee before I ride to save the weight. Hahahahahaha
But seriously, it's just a vanity thing. Just playing with ideas any way for the moment. 4robot.gif

Is it just me, or does anyone else agree that there's such a thing as "too little bike"? Getting rid of everything below the tail except basically the rear tyre makes it look bare and miniaturised. The tyre looks like it's having a private party all of it's own i.e. not attached to the rest of the bike. Not a big fan of the see-through look. The way they're going, bikes are gonna end up looking like metallic praying mantis's. :vom:

Mario, Thanks for the picks. Think I'll go for the real high look of the 6r. :D
Just ben out playing with a spare can and I think I'll use a 100mm can though. Standard size can is a bit tight for tyre clearance and indicator.
