Hi Wasabi...

For your first track bike, you should start on something not so good... just make sure it is all safe and working well.. you are guaranteed to drop it anyway as soon as you start to try to push yourself.. it's just something that will happen.. I was told this when I first started.. and it was true.. I started on an old ZXR-750.. 96 model.. It looked shit at the start, but I fixed it up to look very nice.. it was a great start.. so starting off on an older machine is not a bad thing... After a year or so I progressed onto my 98 model ZX9R (which was my street bike at the time).. turned it into a track bike and it was fantastic... My riding got better and I just got faster and more confident.. (Of course I had also completed 2 Superbike Schools as well..!!).. and a year or so later I have again upgraded to an 06 model ZX10R.. wow even better..!! much faster, stable, confident etc.. but it all comes slowly... you cant jump on a big bore bike straight away and expect to rip the track up... you WILL get yourself into trouble at some stage and it can be costly... so I reckon you should keep looking for these types of bikes for a start.. ZX6R 1998 model would be a perfect start..!! Good Luck.. Macca :D
