tacho flicking b/n 10-11,000rpm (zx7r)

Postby redzedx7r » Fri Dec 17, 2004 10:02 am

:? Got the redzedx7r back from the repairers yesterday. The guy mentioned the tacho needle flicking up around 10-11,000rpm after taking it for a test ride. I have seen it before and just thought it was 'normal'. He thought it may have something to do with the igniter box , i suggested it could be running too lean at the top end.
For background info the engine has got 17,000kms on it, the carbies (not flatsides) are jetted (dynojet) and its fitted with a Yoshi can.
Any ideas engine gurus? Could it also need an ignition advancer?

thanx

ps it runs very sweet and powerful in the rest of the rev range

I'd stick it on a dyno and see what they say. And go from there

Yeah definately chuck her on the dyno.
My 7 has a Muzzy carbon oval race can, factory jet kit and K&N filter and I have no such probs so I would think that you wouldnt need an ignition advancer.
That kinda does make me think though because the guy who had it before me did those mods and I couldnt be sure whether it has an advancer on it too, any way of checking?
