The lusty new ZX6

Postby esie » Fri Oct 26, 2007 6:34 pm

As a graduation present to myself, I am considering trading the Z750 for a ZX6r. I have sat on the new model at Pro Kwaka, and I am in lust! :D Other than the obvious differences in rider position, and the oomph of the bike (no doubt there is an official term!) can anyone list other good or bad pioints? Any other thoughts?
Cheers,
Anne

If you're not using it on the track why not a mint 2006 636?will have more torque down low where you need it for the road and don't have to rev it hard to tap into the power, which you will notice coming off a 750.

Yup, a low km '06 636 might be worth your while to take for a ride. Cheaper and slightly better for road use (in my opinion, anyway). Not a huge difference though, so if only new will do, then go for an '07. I've had my '06 for about 6 months and still find myself liking it a little more every time I throw a leg over it.

My rough impressions from '06 would probably apply to a fair extent to the '07. There's a million and one possible suspension settings to tinker with, it's light and very flickable through the twisties, and not disgraced in company with much larger sports bikes, although the '07 is a little down on power with the loss of 37cc. Mine's more fun than a lit flare in a fireworks factory when I'm hanging off the seat playing boy racer and generally riding it like it's designed to be ridden (no surprises there, eh?), but the minor downside to that is that it's a bit sensitive to weight added up high, like backpacks or stuff strapped to a rack or the rear seat. Nothing dramatic, it just doesn't feel as nicely balanced. :? It's also quite happy to deal with the daily commute and you don't have to wring its neck too much, though it likes to rev - and encourages you to do just that to it.

Take one for a ride - they're a lot of fun and very easy to live with day to day. ;)
When you have them by the balls, hearts and minds will follow...

You can't go wrong with a 6R Anne...

I love my 06 and want to have a crack at the 07.

Positive opinions, good! :) Thanks everyone! I have always loved the ZX6, but was a little worried about going from an upright soft sports bike to a full sports bike.

Neka, I briefly considered a Z1000, but to be honest, I don't need the power of a 1000cc.
Cheers,
Anne

There's only about 20 odd horsepower between an 06 636 (Cath's had 111 hp with a slip-on) and a stock z1000 (about 130 hp)

I am ready for the criticism....
but I am within days of trading the ER for a GSX600R.

The better half has been trying hard to convince me to test ride a ZX6R.....

may have to give it a go before I make a mistake! 8)

The biggest difference will be the handling Anne, I found the ZX6 to be really really revvy, so ride one before you get your heart set. the gearbox was excellent. plenty of power.

I really did enjoy the ZX636 06 model, i thought it was GREAT to say the least. Dunno about the 07 but next to each other in the looks department i think the 06 looked alot cleaner, the 07 looks messy.

Around town the 06 wasn't too bad, like others have said u needed to rev her up a bit to get it moving but still had alot of power! When things start getting more serious i can remember how agile that bike was and how nimble it was!

I would check out an 06 if i was u just consider it all before u limit yourself to 1!
