Yup, a low km '06 636 might be worth your while to take for a ride. Cheaper and slightly better for road use (in my opinion, anyway). Not a huge difference though, so if only new will do, then go for an '07. I've had my '06 for about 6 months and still find myself liking it a little more every time I throw a leg over it.
My rough impressions from '06 would probably apply to a fair extent to the '07. There's a million and one possible suspension settings to tinker with, it's light and very flickable through the twisties, and not disgraced in company with much larger sports bikes, although the '07 is a little down on power with the loss of 37cc. Mine's more fun than a lit flare in a fireworks factory when I'm hanging off the seat playing boy racer and generally riding it like it's designed to be ridden (no surprises there, eh?), but the minor downside to that is that it's a bit sensitive to weight added up high, like backpacks or stuff strapped to a rack or the rear seat. Nothing dramatic, it just doesn't feel as nicely balanced.

It's also quite happy to deal with the daily commute and you don't have to wring its neck too much, though it likes to rev - and encourages you to do just that to it.
Take one for a ride - they're a lot of fun and very easy to live with day to day.

When you have them by the balls, hearts and minds will follow...
