Gday all. As some of you know ive just purchased a 03 ZX9. Im going to put a pair of M3s on her, but just want to comfurm
the tyre size for the rear. She has a 180 55 17 now. Is it supose to be a 190 55 17? Bike didnt come with the manual so I
can't check.
Thanks for the help in advance........ Rod

mate the blade had a 190 50 17.... the zed has the same thing....

im pretty sure the zx9r will take a 190 rear....

a 180 will have a sharper turn in...a 190 will be more stable at speed (and better for wheelies)...

id go to a 190...

They came with a 190 stock.

A lot of people put on a 180 because it quickens the steering somewhat. Either's fine, but I definitely prefer the 180.

The late models had a 190, the early had a 180..

If you want it to turn in quicker, jack the rear and / or drop the front and you can keep the 190.

I ran 190 slicks on my 98... but I did have the back up 15mm and the front down 6mm.. and a damper... and it never went on the road.. :D

I much prefer a 180 on my 9. The 190 is a turd to turn compared to the 180! :) I have not experienced any handling issues as a result of running the 180 either. They change direction better and grip has never been an issue. Even at the track the 180 was fine but if I was chasing a lap record I may stick a 190 on it for a little more throttle grip!
