the fan should only come on when the bike gets hot which shouldnt be very often unless you are idling around all day or turning it off straight after flogging it. Is it running constantly? if your fan is running all the time it might be drawing too much power and not letting your battery charge. how exactly did your uncle fix it?

all d time... ahh i didn't realize it only turns on every once in a while. my uncle ran a wire directly from the radiator to the batt... i guess i should take that wire off now then. But i was just wondering if it is safe to ride without the fan on? even with the fan off, the air that pass through will cool down the engine any way wont it?

I'd be wiring it back in the way it was if your not sure if its working get it hot, dont melt it but get it hot enough for the fans to kick in if it still doesnt work talk to your local auto sparky or bike mechanic obviously bush mechanics is not your forte :)

most thermo fans on a bike dont kick in till 105deg or so , or "bloody hot" on the temp guage... id be VERY suprised if ur thermo fan is required during winter...

Definately rewire it back to using the thermostat.

Winter I doubt the thermo will even come on. I have had the thermo/rad fan on my ZX2R come on only in summer at the track, and in very heavy traffic, again in Summer.

Wiring diags can be found in the owners manual, failing that an auto elec will be able to complete the work for you, as I am pretty sure it's a simple thermo and relay setup.
