On Sunday after riding the 6(nice but didn't do it for me) i'm thinking of stepping up to the 10 prob 06/07 as the pipe under the tail looks awsome. Just looking for some feedback as to what those on the 10's think. Hight wise counts out a 12 let alone a 14 before you 12/14 lovers start

I have ridden the nine (in full stock mode) if the budget doesn't stretch for a 10 it is still a contender. As for the riding position the 9 was comfy but i don't ride that much anyway, if i'm riding i might as well get what i like (and the misses said i will have it for at least 5yrs ) Let the opinions flow i think

A 10 will make a 7 feel every bit the relic that it is... the power-to-weight ratio with a rider aboard comparison is 110hp:300kg for the 7 and 160hp:270kg for the 10.

Ride one and see what you think.

Back when I was a n00b with less than two years' experience I went from a B-model ZX9, which weighs about what a 7 does and has the same front end, to a 2000-model R1, the 10R's equivalent of the day, and not only did I live through the experience, it was probably good for me to bite off that much more than I could chew...

I've done about 750km on my 06 Zx10R now...and i like it.

It can be ridden sensibly using the ample mid range and 2up doesn't upset it much, goes where you point it, gets about 6 litres to the 100 in the twisties. Great to have a slipper clutch and a steering damper as standard too.

It goes absolutely mental if you try to hold it to the throttle stop with some revs on board....so i'm not doing much of that yet.

I had a 98 ZX9R, it was a great bike...comfortable, sure footed and loads of grunt but not scary fast like a litre bike on the road. Here in QLD folks still want top dollar for their 6-9 yo 9's with km on em so I opted for an 06 10 figuring i should still have it when it becomes as old as my 9 was when i had it.

Isn't there a 9 on here for 6.5k?

apparently the 10's power is the best amongst most of the manufacturer, it was the only one able to pull out 300km/h in the superbike race!@!

Picked up my 07 in mid Jan; it now has 2500km on the clock and I've been out of action for two weeks with a busted shoulder (not zx10 related).

Take one for a long test ride. I found it comfy on the freeway and ok in town, twisties are a delight, and it makes my old cbr600 feel sedate.

In 20 years time I'm going to be still have it in the shed like Gos has the Black Pearl.

*edit* It can also lift the front off the throttle in 3rd from the mid range, and in 1st you pass 160kph as the 11000rpm shift light comes on.

My opinion is that if you are buying a new vehicle that you are planning to keep for a long time then buy the latest model you can possibly afford.

imagine how "old" a zx9 is going to look in 5 years time.
where as in 5 years time the current zx10 will probably be the equivalent of the 2000 model zx9 these days ie a sports tourer .
(no offence intended to the zx9 lovers out there)

i personally reckon the 06/07 zx10 is the best looking current bike out there right now and is on top of my upgrade list.
obviously i will never be able to ride it to its potential but fuck its gonna be fun trying

What a decision.....
Having owned both a 1998 ZX-7R and 2005 ZX10, they are very different bikes. I'm 6ft 3 & 88kg and found the 10 a little cramped. I thought the 7 was easily the pick of the two.
ZX7 - Easily my favorite. Easy to ride, fills you with confidence especially around Phillip Is, enough power to take on nearly anything and forgiving enough if you make a small mistake. Yes they were heavy but they felt very stable and comfortable to ride.
ZX10 - Simply brutal. Truck loads of HP. Delivery is instant and quite scary. Downside I found was my legs caught fire due to the heat the engine generates at idle. Exceptionally hot even after doing a highway run down to Torquay.
If Kawasaki bought out another 7 or an 8, that would be my choice. I'd be shopping in no time.

Thats sounds fine to me just the low down grunt, not a big fan of having to wring the bloody thinks neck to get it to move. But getting the maximum out of it will be a long time away, if ever
I don't ride like a mental case to start with so i'm thinking i should be allright

I'm 5'5" ish and just 70kgs......great on a track but not fresh on larger road bikes

I'm almost exactly 6 foot and about 80kg.

How much playing with the suspension did you need to do?? or was it not to bad from the factory.

Being still new to the suspension side of the things bikes i have found are shocking others are not to bad.
The 7 i have been playing with for 6mth's and only now i have got it to feel quite good.

It's a little harsh, but seems OK. Not had much time to play, and now an off it until my shoulder heals
