It looks like I have a couple of options with this.

1. Take it to Kawasaki; let them measure the rider sag and adjust acordingly.
cost?

2. Get a photo of the adjustment tool and make one out of some sheet steel. Do the measurements myself and do the adjustments.
cost? mostly time.

So, does anyone have one they could post a photo off with a ruler in for scale? I have a fair idea what it should look like from the adjustment ring on the bike. I just want to be sure.

Falx on the stock shock I would consider using a long flat blade screwdriver its not pretty and get a cheap one out of the bargain bin at supercheap they ding up before the ring does.


Set the thing so it has 5mm of free sag and dont worry about the other measurements I know this sounds a strange way to do it but you will be able to get the free sag but if i said some other number that might not happen.

Set the front to the same overall sag number so if you get 5 and 30 for 35mm at the back do the same at the front 35mm.

If you do get a cspanner look forward to loosing lots of skin off your knuckles and having to pull the hugger out.

Thanks for the advice. So the C spanners have as bad a habit of slipping as anything else does?

I have a 04 model but i assume its the same with the 05/06 where you have to pull everything out and use a awkward tool in a confined space to do the job or you can get a 18 inch screw driver and give it a few taps.

If you know how to balance the bike on the sidestand with the rear wheel off the ground you can turn the inside collar by hand or in my case i can anyway .

Do you know what i mean by 5 mm freesag??

The 05-06 has a reasonable amount of room back there, I'll post a photo tomorrow. Not sure if I'm up to balancing it up in the air one handed and working one handed... yet. Though I can get a mate to help me.

Freesag being the amount the bikes weight alone compresses the suspension.

Yep set it at that and measure it up because you don't want to set the spring much harder than that anyway and the final figure will come down to your weight anyway.

If it comes out at 35mm or less thats a good thing and if it doesn't you cant really set up without free sag without it becoming harsh anyway.
