Ok whats the bloody go ??
I have undone everything (except my wallet to get a workshop manual)
I am sure there are only two bolts hold it in, either side of the swing arm bolt, but it wont budge.
Up inside where the bolts came out, there is (I assume) an allen headed spacer that looks like it screws into the engine, but from the parts blow up it cant as the top one has another spacer between it and the motor?
I am bemused that the motor is only held in by two bolts at the back but why wont the sucker fall out now, the frame cant be THAT bent surely ??
I dont want to start using undue force YET, and as I havent got a big enough allen key I will leave it until tomorrow now and see the dealer anyway, but FARK I hate it when I cant work it out myself...

Cue dumb question... sure you got all the mounting bolts at the top of the engine?

When I did the frame swap on the ZX6 I flogged off the other week, it took a couple of taps with the mallet to get the frame to let go of the motor, but this was with the motor resting on a couple of planks of wood on an old tyre, not with the motor hanging down.

GOT IT OUT TOO.... just had to undo the spacer I seen with the allen head in it. It screws into the motor and keeps it tight...

No swing arm, could see that visually. a lot do, a lot dont too....

I'm having trouble seeing it now.

So, you have, what, a threaded mount on the back of the motor, with a spacer wound through it. Yeh?

How are you supposed to get an Allen key onto it, though? From "behind", ie. from inside the frame?

pardon piss poor drawing, when you drop the bolt out the space for the allen key is inset into the spacer, which it turns out is a hollow bolt/spacer.
Hope this makes sense of it. The bolt goes through the lot (represented by the thick black line) you screw the spacer/bolt in out and the motor is released from its outward pressure.

the next pics are teh 12 sans motor and the next the monocoque that I rave about and is now in the 12, 14 and new 10 (apparently). It is the airbox and battery box as well as frame, wicked eh?

(goes downstairs, rolls motor on left hand side, catches ball sack on exhaust pipe, screams, drops motor rest of way, crys, slips in fuel, takes photo, crys, limps upstairs, wonders if he should post photo of ball sack first, decides it is not a good idea as MotoP is in warmup and not enuf will see it)

Gee boy I had a lump in my throat when I seen it last time Now I am seeing the bike being worked on kinda makes me feel better cause next time I am there means it will if not be finished be bloody close to it

wow that frame looks funky so whats being done to it while its in this stage? any polishing or painting?

History Lesson #1 - that ZX12 frame actually has its roots in the spectacularly unsuccesful KR500 GP racer of 1981. This bike used an aluminium monocoque frame , smaller overall dimensions of course, but basically what Kawasaki did in 1981 with aluminium, they copied in 2000 with the ZX12R frame...........
