ZX-7R/9R Conversions ?

Postby Cheesy » Wed Oct 06, 2004 1:37 pm

Hey All,

I am looking into buying a '96 ZX-7R, with a 9R engine conversion. I can pick it up for $3000cdn. Was just curios if any of you had any knowledge of performance gains, handling loss, or any other pro's / con's with this conversion. The obvious pro. would be that I would be insuring a 750 rather than a 900, which is a big deal over here. Any info. would be greatly appreciated!!!

Take Care, Cheesy!

From what I have heard, the only negative is the extra weight, but for the near on 20 extra HP, I'm sure you can live with it...

I know the guy said that he had to use the ZX-9R Wiring harness, is this possibly one of the reasons why? Or would this have anything to do with it?

Dave,

I'm thinking the 20 more hp would make up for the added weight. But would it make the front end feel a little lighter for the odd wheelie? 8)

Later, Cheesy!

They reckon the ZX9 engines put the weight furthar forward making the front heavier. I think the axtra power would compensate though, you might wanna make some suspension adjustment though particularly if you have already jacked up the rear or lowered the front.

Not sure what the suspension mods. where, but he said the forks where re-valved. Good point though, I'll check into it 8)
