Looking at this video... it seems as if the ZX10R is speed limited at 300?

All manufacturers decided to limit all new releases at 300 kph to try and offset the nanny states/ governments from interfering with actual laws.
Hence the market for speed healers etc

as rossi sez...
the 10, the 12 and apparently the 14 are all limited
done thru the ECU on the bikes

cheers

If only it were as simple as ECU limitations.

I'm unsure of exact details on 2005/6 bikes, but previous models have been given smaller inlet cams, restricted exhaust ports and injector manifolds to help keep speed down to 300k. It's a serious rework and major dough to get full power and speed from these things.

.

I know on the 12s, all Kawasaki did was put a code in
speedo = 299, turn off fuel

so no std B Model 12 will go faster than 299
simple

The new ZX-14 is limited as well. The speed limiter hits at 290kmph.

Smitty,

Then the logical thing for you would be to remove the speedo, no?

yes

and no
the whole 'speed' thing works off the speed sensor
which works from the output sprocket off the gearbox

so yeah..remove the speedo
and the computer will still slow ya down
'cept you won't know it

Yeah the busas were restricted too after the 2000 model.
They did it by the ecu telling the fuel and ignition to shut off at 299 in top gear.Easy fix though, you went to dick smith and bought a 6.8k ohm resister(cost you the grand total of 5c)and spliced into the correct wire and this would tell the ecu that you were in 5th gear even when you were in 6th.If you were stupid you could buy a little black box(tre) from some of these electronic gurus for about $250 but basically it did the same thing as the resistor.I had seen 300 a couple of times on my busa
