mmmm.. black
drool.....

I dont think it looks too bad. The exhaust is hideous. Change that though and it will look very mean. I think it'll look much better in the flesh and start to grow on people like the K5.

Here's sonething to think about...

...the catalytic converters are under the sump, like on BMW Boxers which, as people who've done so for shits and giggles during servicing assure me, are nary a smidge louder if fired up without the muffler... so, maybe there's a belly-exit pipe in there after all.

Although I'd bet it'll turn out to be like the current R1. Ditche those wobbly-plastic heatshields and the arse end will shrink by 50%.

dash looks great.......

does my arse look big with these pipes  ......um yeah

Now, is anyone else wondering why the pipes aren't pinched together at the exit instead of running parallel and thus having that foot-wide gap between them?

That'd go a long way towards tidying it up.

Fri Sep 02, 2005 3:12 pm

or even... why isn't there just ONE pipe to neaten it up? I figured for heat dissapation they put a foot of space between them?
but we have been molded to like "tidy" nothingness tail sections.... maybe change is good and the big bastard will catch on??
nah

That's exactly what I'm wondering. Why have a 4-2-1-2 when they could have had a 4-2-1 with a single outlet under the tail, taking up less space and still have enough room for the rear wheel and a hugger? It's not like they're being that original with this design, you could point to a number of other bikes that the styling has been patched together from.

i'm pretty sure i read they went 4-2-1-2 to comply with epa noise standards. but i could be wrong.

I was thinking the same thing, friggin regs :(

Fri Sep 02, 2005 4:36 pm

but surely the R6 pictured elsewhere is conforming to the same regs and it's gotten away with a stubby thing at the side...I just think it's a styling exercise gone horribly wrong.

The R6 is a 600 though

Also, most of its silencer/cat is hidden under the belly-pan.

Black is the best *colour* for any motorcycle. End of story. Its also the safest, especially when used with plain black leathers.

That rear end is just hideous. R1 copy gone badly wrong. No room for a hugger, as has been pointed out, no room for bugger all really, the plastic-grey zorst covers look really tacky, and the whole point of cleaning up the area between rear wheel and underseat has dissapeared totally, giving it a very unbalance 'heavy' look to the rear.

The '04-'05 models look way better imho.

One thing that is difficult to argue with *185hp* nice, and 170kg ? :P nice figures them.......baahh, who cares what it looks like

cheers 8)
