How many guys that you know of go buy a litre sports bike and then change the following.....Crank,Rods,Pistons,Cams,Valves, Port head, Flywheel,Injection,Forks,Shock,Pipe and Swingarm!!!!!!

Ummm, me ? Did it with the last one, and over time I plan to do something very similar to this one. Mind you, I'd never claim to be representative of normal people

Hmm, it won 1 race in the wet, so lets look at final championship possies shall we... and from my reconning, the Crim finished 7th in 05 with Walker on board (its first proper year as 04 just had a privateer team with it) and the gumby was 9th in 06 with Walker and 10th in 07 with Laconi.
So I'd say the crim has performed better in World supers too..

Dave, Dave, Dave ... I haven't followed the points over the years, and I certainly don't doubt you, but I think the reality is this : how many people remember who finished second, or third, or further back ? It's winners that stick in the memory, and I really do think that's what people will remember over time.

Not that I really give a shit, of course, and nor do any of us having a bit of fun here. Each to their own and all that, I guess. I love my 07, and to be honest the 04-05 never really did it for me looks-wise, but having said that, if there was no 2nd gen and only an 04-07, without doubt that's what I'd be riding right now (well, not right now, typing on a keyboard while twisting the throttle is not something I'd like to try).

The changing looks are an interesting thing, perhaps with a parallel long ago. People who have long memories, or who are perhaps are just old bastards like me, will recall the GPZ1000RX of 1985. Mr K said it was the fastest bike they'd ever build but the thing I remember it most for is the styling : I thought it was magnificently brutal in it's black and grey colours, all aggression and hard square lines. Yet, when it was superceded by the original ZX10 in 1988, the replacement was the rounded shape that evolved into the ZZR / ZX line of today. If you compare those two models, you can easily see the evolution from one to the other. To a lesser extent that's what happened from Gen 1 to 2, but the 3 has gone back, dramatically so. I for one will be very interested to see how the next couple of generations move stylistically.

Which makes me think of the GSXR line. Some real history there, quite interesting if you ever see a line-up of 750s over the years and check out the way the style has changed. Or, more likely, I'm just a sad old git with time on his hands to think about shit like that. Somebody feel free to disagree with me. Please ?

Now theres a quality bit of kit too...

BTW, I think the racing exploits of all the zx10r's will be forgotten very soon, if not already. It hasn't been a good 4 years for Kawi...
Lets hope the new one does something, so far its not looking good though..

Although I believe they got a 1 - 2 in the AMA at Daytona the other week in the fx classs or something...?

Sad to say, I'm sure you're right. As far the 08, it's notlooking good both figuratively and literally (IMHO), although in race trim I'm taking more of a shine to it, particularly when viewed from the left side.

Hadn't heard the results of the Honda appeal from Daytona, but if it fails then it's ZX6s 1 -2.

GiPro really made that much difference? Wasn't sure it really did that much...

As for OEM damper, people have been know to put a heavier weight oil in it.

but i admit even the crim is a bit patchy there stock. might have to try one with a gipro

The Gumby has a smaller rear sprocket to make it more..well..manageable. Fix this and its as hypo as anything Ive been told..
