i went from a 250 to a 240kg cb900 ..then back to a zx6r (99) and had no probs, until i got the vtr & over exuded myself in my own confidence..i think the biggest factor is common bloody sense (which i could really use if i had some)....u can go from a moped to a busa, if u r careful, learn ur bike, and take ur time...oh and dont back urself until u REALLY kno the bike...

Yeah go the 6, you will love it. Using both feet to hold a bike up is for whimps anyway.

Bindy,
I went from a ZZR250 to a ZX6R 636 only 5 weeks ago and it is a beeeeeauutifullllll feeling.
When you're really winding out the 250 to keep up with the big boys, it's a dream to be able to power on!
Go for it! (So long as it's green!)

definately, which other way would u go. rs125 to an R1  (ive seen some fools) and your NOT one of them, being cautious and questioning ur actions is fine, at the end of the day you've done everything legally and if you feel as though you have OUTGROWN or outridden the litle 250, then park ur ass on a 600 and keep the smiles going..

dont settle for anything on paper.

go sit on a few, get the genral ride position and ride height.. this is why alot of short people go for an F4i.. but id never own a hunda... 3 brands in my station

Aprilia (bring on the mini mille, rs125 for some fun, rs250 for more )
Kwaka (back in the kx80 riding days, and hopefully new gen soon)
Yamaha (worked with em, love em, the 600 range needs a facelift)
blam, still waiting for some funds for an 04 blue 6r

Thanks everyone,

The cbr250 weighs 158kilos so its probably only 5 kilos less than the 600. Ill have to start saving soon though. :)

Bindy,

I have an 04 636, it's got plenty of grunt when you need it but not a full-on, balls-out beast (so to speak  ). I ride mine pretty hard at times and haven`t had it step out of line yet or try to jump into the air.

My advice - go 4 it ...

(assuming ur bindylee from cbr250.com?)
i went from a 250 to a '96 zx6r. i had no problems with ride height but then i'm average height. i found it to be very easy to ride, smooth power delivery, and forgiving handling characteristics. i've often heard it described as an ideal learner bike upgrade which is not to say it's lacking in performance cuz they go pretty hard pretty easily too.
downside to mine was that compared to current 600s it was quite heavy.
they go pretty cheap too, i got mine for $5K last year.
i'd say do it!

yea mine was a 99 zx6r...id suggest maybe an older one 96-01 ..the carby models were a little tamer than the current crop, and they were bloody comfy too...but its ur decision, i just really loved the shape & ride posi of the 99...

Bindy I would highly recomend you get on one at the shop thats fully fueled and try to turn it around by yourself in their driveway and then tell me its 5kg heavier, even better yet if they have a slopeing driveway.

Just a personal experiance i had a few times while i was getting used to it thats all but have a go at doing this on any bike you are looking at after the 250.
