4500rpm vibration

Postby 09sydrd » Sat Dec 18, 2010 8:42 am

the bike has developed a noisey vibration at 4500rpm , you can play at tune with the sound it makes by riding at 4500rpm , sounds like it coming from the front but i've removed the nose cone and all the plastics and checked for something loose but nothing obvious found. At first i thought it might be the radiator cover making the sound but i removed it and still makes the sound. Anyone had a similar prob with there 08-10 zx10 , ive spent 3 nights on it trying to find it with no luck , any ideas?

My '08 had a rather annoying buzz from the front end at around 4500rpm when I first got it too. I ended up riding around poking various bits and pieces until I discovered it was coming from the ignition barrel. I took it back to the dealer and they put new shorter screws in and fixed that one right up. After that one was fixed I found there was another buzz coming from the instrument cluster. I ended up pulling the front apart and put some cardboard washers on the bolts. It was perfect up until the accident. Now after the repairs its back again, so the repairer obviously didn't put them back on. My suggestion would be to find a nice long straight stretch of road and try poking and proding things until you find the offending part, then bung some anti vibration washers on it.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

The vibration problem...

Well I have built up 3 x 08 ZX10 bikes and they have all vibrated..!! at or around 4000 rpm... so I think you are stuck with it...

It seems to be a problem with this model... my first one started vibrating and it had only done 900k's..!! Both my track bike (4000k's) and my road bike (5000k's) both 08 ZX10's vibrate.. I have tried and I just cant stop it..

The only thing you can do it ride faster, As in the track bike gives me the least amount of vibration, cause it is sitting at 10,000 rpm (or higher) most of the time....

I cant feel any vibration then..!! ;)

Mine has the same as this, and it took me a while to figure out it was the ignition barrel after the bucketloads of prodding and poking done on everything up front...

thanks for the replies. After tighnening everything up, removing the nose cone , fairings , dash , searching ect with no success. It turns out to be Something i never would have found. A mate at work today was looking at my bike and he remarked your right hand mirror case is cracked, where it joins the shaft , he pushed on it and i thought yer it is cracked , Anyway when i got home had a good look at it the actual rear case around the glass was loose and at 4500prm makes a harsh vibrating sound. I taped it up tighly and noise vibration has gone :D Should be able to get a new mirror under warranty if it can't be tighnened up.
