Did you have to uprate the Stator - seems to be a weak point in modern Kwaks.

Re: HID LIGHTS

no need to up rate generator as this HID unit uses less power than standard 35w[ normal bulbs 55w],/wires are a normal plug fittings into standard harness easy [my power boxes are velcrowed/tye wrapped to ram ducts ,

got a link to where you bought them ?? normally, HID transformers suck a shitload of power on start-up, way more than 35W - some reflectors cannot cope with the heat.......once they are up and running, maybe thats when the 35W rating comes into effect ?? I would like to know more about these ones.....

For what its worth I was told by a reseller of HID lamps that they actually produce less heat than halogen globes, and I was told they were safe for polycarbonate headlight lenses, I have never seen them so cannot confirm this.

On startup HID lights need a higher voltage to produce an arc, Once the lamp has started, the voltage reduces and the ballast acts as a current limiter so the globe doesnt explode, so yes on startup they will draw more current, but only for an instant.

HID (High Intensity Discharge) Headlamp Conversion Kit

Please note this is a complete upgrade kit not just a bulb made out to be a HID!

Dont be fooled by sellers claiming that their cheap bulbs are HID!

Q. Ok then, why can't I just buy a cheap £4.95 "Xenon HID" bulb and get the same results?

A. Standard bike electrical systems produce 12 volts, True Xenon HID lights require 23,000 Volts which is provided by the ballast and ECU with this system.

This is what BIKE Magazine (Feb 07) said about this kit fitted to a Fireblade.

Before

“ Standard Blade lights illuminate the road without too much grief….but they are nothing to write home about”

After

“ The plasma cannon…. Sorry, HID give a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘let there be light’. And that’s on dipped”

“The bulb uses plasma to make pure white light. Plasma, Like in Star Trek”

This is a motorcycle specific kit not a car kit adapted to suit!

This kit is to convert one lamp only, different bikes have different configurations so if you want to do two lamps you will need two kits. However one is usually more than enough!

If you want to peel paint then you will need two kits!

Whilst the headlights fitted to most bikes may look impressive, their performance rarely lives up to expectations and can leave you dreading getting caught-out after dusk.

We now have the answer to your night riding blues.....!

H.I.D Conversion Kits provide more than 300 percent more light than a Halogen bulb. The clear white light produced by H.I.D Conversion Kits is similar to daylight, reflecting road markings and signs better than conventional lighting. The Xenon Bulb is a micro-discharge bulb filled with a mixture of noble gases including Xenon (This is not to be confused with many manufacturers who call their halogen bulbs Xenon).
The bulb has no filaments as the light arc is created between two electrodes, giving it a wider range of illumination.

H.I.D Xenon light offers.........

- Two to three times more light for half of the energy consumption.

- Doubling or trebling of the headlamp luminance (this means that the light output is nearer to daylight - whiter than normal Halogen light which is quite yellow)

- Low levels of infra-red and ultra-violet radiation to ensure no damage to the headlight lens. (runs cooler than Halogen)
- Specially designed plug and play harness plugs into existing headlight plug so all switching operation is the same.

Fully waterproofed for safety and security
- Full instructions included.Typical fitting time 45 minutes
- Easy return to standard lighting

Please check that your machine has H11 dipped beam bulb before ordering as sometimes manufacturers can change half way through a model run.

This Kit will also fit other bikes with H11 headlamps in the Kawasaki Range

Kit comes with all you require for easy fitment but if you are unsure please consult a qualified auto electrician.

Kit is guaranteed for 12 months from date of purchase.

In the Box.

1x H11 Xenon 6000K HID Bulb and Loom

1 x SLIM LINE CMOS Ballast

1 x Zippy ties and Hardware.

NB If you bike has twin headlamps both with H11 bulbs you may want two kits (if you feel its Necessary to peel paint)

What colour "K" did you fit? I haven't as yet found any ADR information as to what limits exist here.

these HID lights are a white light as the blueish lights are do not reflect the light back onto the road in wooded areas where i live [6000k]lights advise dont go to blue

Re: HID LIGHTS

I fitted a pair of HIDs to my ZX14. very bright but ALL of the beam is on the road. high beam takes about 10 seconds to reach full brigthness. don't go to the 8000k the output is so blue that you loose actual visible light.
I bought mine from BIKE MONKEY in SA. he is reliable and has supplied several accesories from his sources.
