ZX6RR Rotor info

Tue Mar 11, 2008 12:59 pm

Hi y'all

I need some info on stocks rotors but to get it I will destroy one, soooo ... does anyone have a knackered rotor I can have?

Alternatively some kind soul might feel like drilling out one of the buttons on a knackered rotor & measuring the hole dimensions (diameter & thickness).

My aim is to convert my rotors to full floaters so this info is critical in sourcing replacement buttons.

Cheers

thats a great idea - but have you considered just finding a set of floaters that will bolt straight up to your wheels ? Might save a lot of rooting around.....

Yeah I have, but the conversion is gonna cost about $100 total ($7 per button, 7 per disk) instead of $5-600 for new rotors that are substantially better.

Well worth a liitle rooting around methinks.

All I need now of course is somone with a rooted rotor to mess with :)

Do you have access to a press that can install the buttons correctly ? Its a pretty critical component of floating rotors, and if they are not installed correctly, they won't *float* at all.........

A good set of 2nd-hand rotors from a wrecker should only come in around the 3 to 4 hundred mark, tops. Probably a bit cheaper if they are from an older model. New ones are costly, no doubt.

Good luck with this project, I will be interested to see how it pans out.

The new buttons are full floating buttons held on by a circlip with a springwasher underneath, just how Brembo do them.

S/H rotors locally in Perth are $450 a set so I'll be damned if I'm gonna spend $225 on a good rotor only to drill it out.

C'mon peeps someones gotta have one somewhere, I think the 04-05 ZX10 might use the same disks.
