ZXR750 Manual - Have I Made a Mistake

Postby Specwarop » Wed Apr 18, 2007 7:59 pm

Gday,

Well I went out to buy myself a workshop manual for my 1992 ZXR750 J2. I got to the shop and the shopkeeper told me there is two books that cover my bike, a Haynes one and a Clymer's one. I looked at them both and the Clymer's manual was about 600pages bigger then the Haynes option, and only a fraction more expensive, so I bought it.

Then when I got home, I noticed that the Clymer's manual covers '1991-1998 ZX7, ZX7R and ZX7RR'. Its not mentioned anywhere the words 'ZXR750'. I understand the models are very similar - but what I would like to know, is whether this manual is the one for my bike exactly, or am I better off taking it back and getting the Haynes manual, which is definitely for my bike.

This link will take you to the website detailing the Clymer workshop manual that I bought: https://www.buypenton.com/basecode/ProductDetail.asp?PRDID=369

Any help appreciated.

Don't worry mate, the ZXR750's were known as ZX7's in the US, where the Clymer manual is from. Everywhere else it was the ZXR. In 1996, they all became known as ZX7's. Confused yet? :)

The Clymer is far better than the Haynes, even if maybe a bit of an overkill at times

Yeah well thats good news then.
The Clymer manual goes into a lot of depth with everything. But typically if you want to just remove the front sprocket you have to remove the engine first haha. Or so they say.
