ZX6R, ZX10R, ZX14R, Ninja 1000 etc

I've just picked up my new (to me) 08 Ninja which has crap after-market mirrors. The stock mirrors don't get many compliments so if I'm going to replace the crap, what should I be looking at? Some rear view capability would be a big plus.

Who gives a rats arse what others think dude... As long as they are practical and do their job its all good.. I have an 09 with the same mirrors and it doesnt phase me anymore, its the indicators that make them look ugly..
kawasaki make aftermarlet bolt on indicators that are way smaller and fit onto the oem mirror stalks so it doesnt look as dicky, but they are quite pricey ..
You could go full custom mirors and mount aftermarket indictors on the side fairings if you were pretty handy though, its something i cbf doing on mine though

They look fine.
If it really bothers you then move the blinkers into the headlight parkers and remove the casings from the mirror arms

where'd put your indicators?

I removed the parkers and rewired them so they became the indicators.. just replace the clear globes with amber ones.. they are only 5 watt, same as the parkers and I got them from Repco for stuff all...!! They are a common globe..
At night they are nice and bright, during the day they are not as noticeable, you just have to make sure that the other motorists see where you are going.. but hey we are motorcyclists.. we should always be watching for the crazy motorists that dont see us..???
I also have an intergrated tail light as well.. legally this is not all roadworthy as far as the regulations go.. but it looks heaps better with the indicators and tail light all in the one...... so you might have some quick talking to do if you get pulled up by the boys in blue...
It is an easy mod, but the bike looks so much more streamlined..!!!

Being seen and seeing others is my key survival strategy. I like the idea of using the parking lights as they seem redundant anyway but would consider (say) some flush fairing indicators as well - both to warn dwarfs who are standing on the street corner and I just like the flush look. I'm a bit wary about the integrated tail even though it cleans up the tail beautifully - maybe flush indicators on the side would also look cool?

I must admit I was a bit concerned about the front indicators during the day.. but I do ride with extreme care on the road, and have not had a problem yet.. Front on they are very easy to see... and like I said at night, not a problem at all side on... With the rear integrated tail light, you would be surprised, this unit is as bright as the original, and the indicators are very bright and easy to see... day or night.. they are all LED, so no problems with vision there...
I got this tail light from Canada.. I have seen others that are not as good.. I guess I was lucky I picked the right one from the start.... You just have to get the right relay otherwise the indicators will flash too fast..!!!
Good luck with whatever you pick.. I just like the streamlined look...!!!

I'm going to persist with the aftermarket mirriors for a while but encouraged by those stunning pics, I've ordered flush indicators and resistors for the rear. Thanks for the ideas

hey mate, where did you get your intergrated tail light from? im interested in buying one as well but the ones on ebay look like crap, thinking of something from the US (CUSTOMLED)

I have an 09 ZX10R and got an Integrated tail light from CustomLED. Very tidy product. Probably the most expensive on the market but the brightness of them is amazing.
It was actually so bright that I was told to dim it down for our wed night rides.

sweet i was googling and thats the only one i found that looks good.
are they easy to dim? or do you hav to take the bike apart to do so?

The customLED light plugs into the standard wiring plugs and has an extra single grey wire which is the control wire.
When you purchase the tail light grab a control wire switch they sell for next to nothing as well. This is a toggle switch with 2 wires. 1 to go to a ground point the other to the grey wire.
You simply follow the instructions for how many times you toggle the switch and it saves the settings for all sorts of things like brightness, strobing brake lights etc.
I didnt hard wire my switch in. I just loosely tape the gry wire and control wire together then run the earth wire to my rear axle castle nut pin so i can see the tail light while I play with the switch.

Wow - that's an idea! I just love my naked (de-indicated) mirrors on the front but haven't been impressed with my flush rear indicators which are so hard to see in daylight. Anyone know of any other orange flush mount LEDs that isn't clear or so black no light passes through it? Otherwise it might have to be the integrated set.
