1994 zx9r motors

Hi All,
Just wondering, the missus old mans 94 zx9 done a camshaft. It totally snapped caused by a bearing failure which caused some scary moments on the road. Anyway the main reason for the post is to see that he wants to put in a new/2nd hand motor and i suggested that perhaps a newer model zx9 motor may fit. Has this been done or have you heard of this being done. Say from a 1994 motor to a 1998 motor etc.
I beleive that the zx9's changed around 1997, is this correct?
Madkaw, it is john from EC, the marone zx9r finally had its day after 98 thou Kms on it. It was partially rebuilt after head gasket and water pump let go at turn 5 on ec spewing water under the wheels, and now its done a camshaft. I suggested a NEWER zx9, but his missus was the one to convince
Anyway any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Or if you know of a good 2nd hand motor ( NSW only)

Ah Yes, know it well. They have been some hard K's too..
The zx9 motor changed in 98 and became wider so a post 98 model probly won't fit. Pity as they are much better, although John did a great job with the pre 98 motor..
Perhaps he should upgrade as his nemesis, Ben has...
Then again, Ben went Hoondi, so John should have no problem carving him up with anything that has the big K on it..

yes they are hard km.
Im trying to convince him that a newer zx9 (98 onwards) would be a better investment. With less km's, suspension that isnt shot, lighter etc ect etc. He is totally convinced that he needs a new bike, but his missus is the one that needs convincing.
