ZX7R frt rear weight

Fri Aug 04, 2006 11:58 am

I got my corner weight scales out and weighed the front and rear of the 97 ZX7R and the 91 ZXR750 bikes today. The corner weight scales are very accurate (calibrated..supposed to be anyway :D ) scales I use for setting up race cars. You put one at each corner of the car but for the bike you use just one side (obviously... ).

So anyway....the ZX7R without rider and 3/4 tank of fuel plus water and oils etc weights 230kg. Front weights 114kg which is 49.5% and rear weights 116kg which is 50.5%. So pretty heavy and close as to 50% weight distribution. Couldn't do COG because I need more people to hang onto the bike.

I got on and weighed it in the same state as above (as best I could while balancing on the scales) and it showed 309kg total (so I weigh 79kg... :D ) and the front was 144kg (46.5%) and the rear 165kg (53.5%).

The ZXR750 is my track bike and its got everything road taken off and fibreglass and lighter stuff etc.

It weighs 203kg without rider but 1/2 full tank, oil, water etc front 106kg (52%) and rear 97kg(48%). With me on it, it weighs 282kg, 135kg front (48%) and 146 rear(52%).

So anyone else want to weigh their bike?? Just message me and bring it over :D

I live in Oakleigh, Melbourne Victoria.

I didn't need to know, I just was interested to know....for my own amusment and cause I happen to own some corner weight scales

Like the ZXR I got is a pretty heavy bike....mine has got about 100 hp only....so its interesting to compare power to weight...stuff like that.

Interested more in comparing different bikes...probably more interested in CoG but thats a bit of muckin around to do but not impossible...just got to be careful the bike don't full over.

I guess the difficult thing for bike manufactureres is that riders climb all over the thing going thru corners etc....I was interested to see where they placed the weight of the rider for straight line stuff...be interesting to see what happens if a rider hangs off...where his weight goes.....more towards the front or rear cause your weighting the pegs more then the seat.....I think????

Another interesting thing is womens weight is distributed differently to guys...... ...so maybe they should be engineer bikes just for them :D

(bet you never thought of that.... )

Its the only thing I think of when I see a woman . Wonder how those Breasts effect the weight distribution on her Bike

True ! thats the only thing I think of :D

Huh? You had one, and you followed it up with a C-model ZX9... you didn't notice a *slight* difference in weight in favour of the 9, perchance?
