zxr250 electrical problems

Hey guys I've got a major problem with my ninja. This might sound confusing but just bear with me...
When I have the side stand down in neutral and let go of the clucth, the bike stalls.
When I have the side stand up, and put it in neutral its fine. Only problem is that the neutral light stays on no matter which gear I'm in.
When I pull the clutch in the light goes off.
Mechanically the bike works fine. I've checked the side stand switch which is also fine.
I have a feeling its the junction box next to the battery but still not too sure. Either that or a crossed wire or something somewhere. I've checked continuity of the neutral wire with a multimeter and it seems fine. Any help would be very appreciated.

Hi Frost not too sure but I had a similar prob with the sidestand wsitch on my ZXR 750 94
Just joined the two connectors to bypas the sidestand cutout & fixed the prob
But I did ride off with the stand down once after that!! was lucky & no dramas but lesson learnt
Dont know about the neutral light?

Maybe the diode pack that is wired between the side stand switch and the clutch switch, have a look at the wiring diagram if you have one.
The diode pack is there for a either/or logic funtion,
