Just pre empting when I post it BUT
At the Trackday at QR on the 12th June I was priveleged enough to meet a guy named Richard Goddard with a black '03 ZX12R.
This dude uses the "wings" on his 12 as trainer wheels and scrapes them and the pegs around corners.
Hard t obeleive I know BUT I was lucky enough to arse some shots (of me) with him doing it.
FARKING INCREDIBLE....

Looks to me like he needs to hang off it a bit more...but then it is a sports tourer

Wouldnt scraping the wings reduce the amount of pressure on the front wheel.... reducing the pressure of the rubber on the road and therefore increasing the likelyness of the front end losing it?
Im not a racer, but I suspect that would be correct right?

Hahaha...
Was only talking to Hoffy about this very topic on the weekend...

Is this just an excuse for you to say .... "Im still faster than him ..."

Ask our good mates Gos and Hammer about scraping zx12 body bits on the road whilst still maintaining generally forward motion ... and these guys do it on the road !

I'm with Mick C, get off the bike and use the slidders.
They ummmm, slide!

Full agreement with you guys
Yes he should be off the seat, yes it WILL (and did eventually) unload the front tyre.
THATS THE POINT
The man is crazy and I love it !!!!
Imagine what he would do if he went to ASS
or got his ars off the seat and got his knee down
And scrapping body bits is easy if you reduce suspension either through weight (how big are you guys?), load or just dropping the forks.
Would YOU be brave/stupid enough to do this lap after lap at every corner ???
This was my amazement..... and I still think he is a dead set farkin legend

Scraping the belly pan? Hell, I do that on the beemer...
As for the dude on the 12, he seriously has that thing tossed on it's side. However, he doesn't seem to have anything left and seems to be running a bit wide.

not all that surprising really.
ask madkaw about scraping fairings.
but i don't see how scraping a fairing would unload the front end enough to make it lowside, fairings do have a fair bit of flex in them. i would think rolling the throttle on would unload it more.

DEFINITELY nothing left, there were SOME corners he ran wide on but he does it SO often it is just the norm'
I like to have a bit (lot?) up my sleeve but he really seen nothing wrong with it....
I was ground the pegs a couple of times but that was misjudging the ripple strip into turn 4.
When MY pegs hit that is time to pull the head in I reckon
In the series of photos this is from he actually runs up V quick in but loses a fair bit out of it too as he cant get on the throttle.
Bizarrely his tyres were NOT balled up and stuff... not that I know too much about it.. but wear wasnt as bad as on my 12 and he was running Race Pilots (I have Bridgie 012SS's)
Maybe running it over so far wears the balls off it (...and here comes Neka

)

I would guess he's not on the throttle
may just be holding steady at that angle
coz if you open up lent over that far
...lowside here we come
or it could grip...and highside ya

I think I'll leave my wings intact thanks, me thinks KHI have planned that if you hit the wings you have it over a tad too much.
Do pegs hit before wings with standard suspension height?
