Where to change or examine oil on ZX2R?

Postby ToaDz » Fri Nov 18, 2005 7:19 pm

There is a cap on the bottom left-hand side of the bike, but there is no dipstick? Am I looking in the right area?

My mate has a CBR250RR and this where it is on his bike.

??

That's exactly what i thought when i bought my zx6r!

turned out the gauge is a bit lower, looks similar to the break fluid gauge

The bike needs to be level and you'll be looking for a window similar to the one in the picture.

diesel posted that... I think he was still pissed from gregs birthday.

had a good laugh when I found this thread (so did greg and diesel when I showed em), cos of all the shit we gave diesel when he posted asking where the dipstick was on his zx2 many moons ago.

can't give you exact directions. it'll be on the right, down on the sump (lower part of the engine)
Look for a little 20c piece sized round window.

and i didn't post that.
smek just couldn't find his stick. i swear. :D
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Yep, that's the filler cap. watch the window lower down on that side to see the oil level. Keep the bike upright or it will miss read the level and don't forget it takes the oil while to drain down.

This isn't true for all bikes - I hade an 86 yam that had no sight glass, but did have a dipstick fitted to the bottom of the oil filler cap.
