Ive had the Delrin (plastic) ones before and they saved the paint work 100%,
but i've heard stories of the Ali' ones snapping bolts off either in the block or the frame when impacted one. Then the bike slides over the loose metal crash knob, damaging the fairings worse than if it had no knob to start with.

I guess it depends on how bad the fall is.
Opinions are like 1098's, everyones got one.

crash's arent there for fairings or paint work...they are there to save frame damage...

had em on my cbr, no scratches on my frame (lots on my fairings tho) so they did there job...

got 2 sets on the zed...1 set i got from that same place...

are the quality of the no cut frame sliders the same as ones where cutting is required? its only on one side but im just wondering if the extention in the slider to fit around the fairing is anything is should worry about?

Chill Neka, i only pointed out that they saved the paint, not that they were invented to do that. Its just a bonus.
My real point was that the metal ones pictured in his link have damaged frame and or engine block ;) 'apparently?' But not mine.

I dont think we answered the poor lads question.

Non cut ones are better for you fainrings due to not having to cut them, but they then must need a bracket to space them around the fairings. This could make them less stable under impact.

the crash knobbs ones have a crossbar to provide additional bracing & support to reduce the chance of the offset bracket bending and destroying things....

I would go for the oggies straight up regardless of the price, I bought some other brand with dayglo green pucks on them(see sig pick) and when they where called upon to do the job it shattered into about five bits and if it had of stayed intact there would have been less damage.

I have dropped the bike on both sides with oggies and apart from some minimal scratching no damage and the oggies are fine.

I might add my latest disaster saw the bike sliding down the side of a hill backwards and landing in a garden with me still on it out the back of tambo today for the locals.

Yeh i have a pic but dont know how to get it from the phone to the pc.

Trust me and pay the extra for the oggies.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

I just had a small stack with my '06 ZX6R. The crash knobs saved me from quite a bit of fairing damage, saved the engine casing and indicators. I have no complaints about the bracket - I'm just looking for a replacement knob now, since there was no damage to the bracket at all. They are worth twice the cost.

I also recommend getting a set of pick-up knobs that are chunky and designed to be mini crash knobs - I got my pick-ups from R & G, and they saved my swingarm from damage, and changed what would've been major tail damage, to what looks like a stone chip

i got cheap version of crash's on the blade which broke like Barrbobs...didnt do shit...the genuine oggys i got from a dealer were used twice, didnt shatter and did a much better job...

when i needed oggys for the zed, i bought genuine oggys (and a second set from ratedr parts)

Hey Vuki,

I Have just recently started a business MBP Components and i am manufacturing crash protection, my design is a modular design so if you do happen to damage the slider you only have to replace the slider and the bolt (ony if its bent or damaged in any way) not the whole kit.

My design is a white nylon or black delrin slider and billet aluminium backing plate(grade 6061) and billet spacer. Aluminium parts are either a polished finish or anodised gold, red, black or blue. Im currently only making cut versions for frame sliders.

All my crash protection bar the swingarm spools are a modular design as above.

I have a customer at the moment that has ordered a full set of crash protection (aluminium polished finish and black sliders)for his 05-06 ZX636R which includes the following and prices

Front axle sliders - $75.00
Bar end sliders - $50.00
Frame sliders - $140.00
Swingarm sliders ( these are over sized pickup spools made from either white nylon or black delrin)- $50.00
If you were to buy a set i also install the sliders for $50.00 which includes cutting the hole and rubber trim for the hole, and the other slider's if you were to go that way, i install them at Pole Position Motorcycle Accessories at Campbelltown as i am selling my products through them.

Im also manufacturing jackup plates for rearsets for $100.00

Will post some pics up for what they look like as i have a full set on my ZX7R.

Cheers,

Matt

Ive got these on my zx6r and they thick and hard. Bought it off someone on here. cant remember who.
Very easy to put on but watch out for the RHS knob. The bolt was too big and no socket would fit in the knob hole for me to tighten it. I had to shave the bolt's head down to fit a smaller socket.

I havent laid her down yet (knocks on wood) but they looks better than the plastic ones.

go the oggys mate price is somewhere near the $300 mark but when you see the way they mount up you will no why everyone recomends them! i have had two other types and the mounting positions and structure was literelly crap
and after spending money on them was fairly :x about not just spending the hard earned dollars and going for the oggys
or if you can find ones that mount in the same way
