How LOW could you GO! - ZX 6R

Postby Princess » Sun Jul 02, 2006 6:18 pm

Hi Everyone, :)

I’ve been considering purchasing a ZX 6R. My current bikes seat height is 760mm. I was considering lower the rear suspension on the ZX 6R to about 780mm, bringing the seat height down.

Just wondering if any body has done this and if so how did you find the ride… :?:

do u suffer from ducks disease too??

wow..surely we have sum links on this topic, must been covered abt 5 times i reckon, if ne1 knows how to search ... but from memory the few tips are

go for a low seat height bike

cut out sum foam out of seat

make seat narrower (often width detracts from height)

lower as far as u can...without compromising handling...

the reason i asked is the later zx6's have a spacer in the rear shock assembly, it lowers the bike a reasonable amount. But the trade off is that the bike is more upright on the stand and you will have to be careful with it.

But apart from that what Neka said is correct, do a search and you will find :)

...you can get the stand chopped and shortened so the bike leans at a normal angle. Alas this makes it hard to sell to a normal height rider, but thems the breaks.

If I was doing this (and seeing I am a shortarse I will probably will have to eventually) I'd buy a second-hand side-stand from a wrecker and operate on that...and keep the original as a spare.

I Think you'll struggle Princess. Kev's 05 12r is easier for me to move (both on & off the bike) then his Miss's Kerry 06 ZX6R. My 02 9R is 20mm lower then both after i removed the rear spacer.

The 600 sports bikes all seem higher at the seat then the Litre bikes. It's related to making them Narrower then they were 5 years ago.
