KBC helmet

Postby hidepenny » Fri Jan 20, 2006 11:41 am

hi all, just bought a KBC VR-1 tinted screen helmet 2 sizes smaller than my first "ugly" "heavy" "dull" nitros helmet, and don't know if it's just me it feels so light and comfy, anyone experienced this? i've seen review of this helmet being on a similiar level with other much more expenisve shoei, arai helmet............or isn't it?

any comments on the KBC brand?

i've had one now for quite a while (after a similar cheap and nasty that i had for waaay too long). Anyway, it is nice BAR the crazy noise!!! removable pads for washing (yeah, may actually do that one day), nice easy screen change-out system (can't wear iridium at night---- comfortably).... but I thought the pod-less side panels would help wind noise, but for some reason this thing is louder than my old "crapper".
My model is the TK-8 (or something like that) though, on my head it fit better than the VR-1 (cuz I really wanted the VR-1 until I tried it on)

anyway, yeah- can't beat them for price.... just use ear plugs.

they are not as noisy hahaha may be because i have my ipod straped to my arm and listening to music all the time hahahahah :), i always wanted to get the military look before ya know, but none was available, so had to go with other colour so i found this one on ebay, it's awesome and 50% cheaper than at peter stevens :)

I bought a vr1 not long ago. Feels great on my head but, its the weirdest thing, on the left its as silent as the grave but on the right there is a fair bit of wind noise :?:
Real bravery is being afraid but doing it anyway.

I have a VR-1 and I use it for HEAVY use...

I commute to work every day, so guaranteed I wear it 4 times a day.... and use it during weekend trips...

After 2 and a half years of heavy use this helmet is beginning to get a bit worn and is probably due for replacement.

For most people, who ride once during the week and a couple of times during the weekend this means the KBC helmet should last as least 5 years or so...

I wouldnt hesitate to buy another KBC, they are awesome value for money.
The world is round. It has no point.

its like comparing apples and oranges.......the arai rx7 (i'm presuming its the rr4 version) is a $1000+ helmet, the kbc is not and doesnt pretend to be.

For what i paid for my TK-8 (250 or so) im very happy with it. I would have liked to buy the Arai that was about $100 more, but it was just that little bit too far north of my budget *shrug*.

Goes well, keeps most wind out & minimal wind noise, and the vents let enough air through you dont feel your suffocating or anything.

I have heard of HJC, is that a US brand like KBC or just the same market level?

my first helmet was nitros too, lasted me about 3 months on my L hehe, however they are good entry level helmet, i mean i paid $125 for mine, so can't complain much about it :D
