yeah I know the stickers are out there but I can see them peeling away,
getting dirt trapped under them etc...

the pro-grip for 29.00 seems like the 'best' sticker option but I just
dunno....

I think at the moment I'll go with option c) do nothing...

The trick is to make sure you clean the area before sticking the protector
on .
Mines been on for 2 years now and still as good as new

if you do want to stick anything.....
get some Prepwash...from repco or Autobarn or panelbeaters supply
places.....cleans the panels...very nicely indeed.....
(but you do have to follow the instructions)
and no, it does not affect the paint.....

on..and 10 years later ..they are still there...

Hey Troy,

I had one on my 2001 GPX250R, it was a softish clear (circa 2mm thick) gel one I bought from Peter Stevens in Melbourne. I think it was actually specified on the bag as for a GPX250R, but I can't remember the brand.

The material was damn-near indestructable, you could make an impression on it with a fingernail, but it would spring back to shape as soon as you released the pressure.

The trick with any tank protector is to make sure the protector doesn't make a 90-degree outside bend and you clean the target area on the tank with metho after you've washed the bike.

Beware though, once the tank is that clean the protector sticks like shite to a blanket and once it touches the tank it wants to stay.

tank protectors work a treat. You dont wanna have scatches everywhere.

Any sort is ok as long as it stops your tank from scratching.

They can be replaced if they are damaged.

I have recently removed an old foam one and have been looking for a gel type one.
Does anyone else know what brand these are? I have been hunting for these for a while, and I couldn't get any info from PStevens.

Gel ones hey? Hmm maybe need to try harder to find em on the net...the
market here is newcastle is very limited, ranges from the very thin,
carbon fibre look-alike cheapies (about $10) to some that are a bit
thicker with a bevelled edge (about $30 - pro-grip)....

Share the love guys when you next to go a shop have a look for me and
the Doc! I think I will end up going with the pro-grip thanks to your
recommendations Mina and Smitty et. al...

Doc if ya have some success finding the gel one let me know...

They have aegis soft gel pads, and keiti soft gel pads.
They also stock Kawasaki specific Motographics tank pads - but for now you need to pick the one you want off http://www.tankpads.com/ and call them to order.
The motographics ones aren't gel though - some sort of 3D resin they say.

nice one Ty, placed my order with them this morning for a motographics ninja...now will bed down and wait (can take a month cause its coming from the UK)...

will post a pic once installed, and will follow the cleaning instructions prior to applying that were posted previously...
