Pillion bag for a zx6r

Postby Kermit » Thu Feb 16, 2012 12:18 am

Looking to get for one for my zx6r and was wondering if anyone has used the estoril bag

If not, feel free to offer throw some other makes/models you have experience with, basically want something to chuck my wets into and a 1L water bottle.

Cheers

Pillion bag for a zx6r

I have a smaller Ventura version. It's great. You may need to get a little creative with the straps under the seat, but I find it a great little bag.

Joe Rocket seat bag from bike gear warehouse. I think there're $90 and fit a full face helmet.

That's what I got and it's great (thanks Glen ;) ). Brought my lunch, 750ml water bottle, wets, and neck warmer in it to work today. Didn't need to expand it for that, and had my work shoes occy-strapped on the top of it. If you've got valuables in it It's cool how you can clip it off and hold it and your helmet by the strap in one hand and walk around. :D

Creative with straps under the seat is mildly putting it.

Despite being as creative as possible to secure the straps, the base & its strapping is not designed for a oblong shaped pillion seat. Because of this I couldn't secure the latch at the most acute angle and there also not enough room for the latch.

It would work/fit better if the base was oblong shapped and its strapping was velcro as opposed to latches.

Its a great bag, however not designed for sport bikes with oblong shapped pillion seats.

I bought one of these for my crim... I had to sew one of the underseat straps to make it shorter and then it worked great, worked great on my ZX6R before I got the ventura rack also.

My clothes sewing skills are sub par, if I had decent seamstress skills; I would of done what you had done.

I saw one either in a mag or on hte web the other day that looked bloody awesome. Lockable, waterproof, easy to secure/unsecure and it looked like perhaps the sturdiest bit of kit I had seen in a while. I'll try and find it and throw up a link of some sort. Might have been an Andy Straps one?? or perhaps a Euro one of some sort, bit vague.

Ok, for what I want (to pack wets & a drink bottle) I've decided to go for cycle guys tail bag, they custom make tail bags for kwakas and other makes.

The reseller in aus is wamdistrubtors.

This is what it looks like.

I know you were; I plan on getting one for longer journey's hauling more stuff.

For day rides like say Richmond - Oberon - Bathurst (hint hint) a few bottles of H20 and wets in tail bag should suffice.

Did you change your pipes?
