WTB Racing Boots, gloves andback protector

Postby Jonno » Sat Mar 12, 2011 10:54 am

Ok, I am after informed opinions on some gear for track only use with the emphasis on safety, durability, comfort and dollars in that order of priority.

So far I have GiMoto customised one piece suit and standard Alpinestar boots and gloves which will do for the short term.

I am after:

Gloves.

Back and chest protector?
I have seen some back protectors with the extended tail bone piece, worth it?

Boots.

And anything else I need to be aware of.

Thanks.

You'll need something that goes all the way to the bottom of your arse, now that the big donga has gone missing

alpinestars bionic back protector

the back is hard and slippery so you can get your leathers on and off easily.
also light and comfortable

Gaerne boots are really good value and give great protection. I use a Dainese back protector.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Try a couple off different back protectors, a good fit is essential, all they a fit a bit different..

I use an oxford, they are a boxy shape and fit me well cause im large..

Something breathable with the back protector. Something slim and something that doesnt protrude to far ip the neck and it will piss you off trying to tilt you head back whilst trying to tuck under the screen. I dont bother with chest guards.

Boots needs to have good ankle protection.

Earplugs are a must for me. Can't ride without them.

Mr sheen and some clean cloths to clean your visor.

Skins under your leathers if you like that thing. makes it so much easier to get leathers on and off in between sessions.

Not pickin on you Russ, but talking old school and new school as in Marty's thread,
I think these would have to be the gayest of the modern riders gear !

Re. Earplugs, How many track days have you guys done? :P ;) 6 sessions of 20 mins of an unrestricted 600 sitting between 7000 and 16000 gets very noisy. Also I concentrate better with earplugs in.

Not good for your ears. The pipe is for power on the track not look or sound. ;)

At Fx today I suppose
