big boots in Melbourne

Postby dilligaf » Tue Sep 07, 2010 7:58 pm

My son wants to start riding but he's 6'5" in the old money and has size 16-18 feet (depending on the brand. his shoes look like boats to me).
was wondering if anyone had any idea where we could get motorbike boots for him? Have the name of a bootmaker who does
custom boots but that will be exxy and looking to see what else is around before we commit to that.
We are in Melbourne.

Redwing in Burnley st Richmond. Cant hurt to enquire.

Also check with BMW Australia. They do great boots under the BMW banner and have access to a worldwide network. Expect to pay $400 plus for a pair of normal person boots but because you bloke is a freak you have to expect a surcharge.
I'm size 13-14 and its hard enough to find regular shoes let alone bike boots.
HTH
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.

Medal shoes in Gertrude st Fitzroy if he is still in business, rumours vary, certainbly not in the shop anymore but some say he is working out of his house behind the shop. Does boots for coppers and posties, $320 a pair custom made to your leg, or at least that was the price a few years ago :)

Medals seem to have gone.
Found him a pair of off-road boots that fit at Bikemart. Looks like a Yeti in them but they only cost $140 and will last until he decides if riding is for him.

Edit. Took him into the Peter Stevens clearance centre and found a pair of Alpinestars that fitted him. They have a lot of big sizes cheap there.
