Go the 2 piece...

Much more practical for everyday road riding.

BikeGearWarehouse has some Joe Rocket suits for $600 but in limited sizes.

we have some odd stuff here at work for 300 bucks or so.... (bikebiz)
for example, a black/ red daytona 2 piece size 60 - $300

buy the best you can afford, look closely at the stitching and the quality/thickness of the leather.
Decide before you buy it if you really want the racing hump or not (looks wanky on commuters)

i wont be using the leather jacket for commuting,
Not sure what size i am.... im about 6'0" and slim build!
Yea i think ill have about 1-1.5G to spend... Id prefer to buy something that is better now and will last then save a few $100 and have to replace it in a year or two!

Ive seen a few posts here on collins leathers and they seem positive. Looked up their site dosent tell me much its under construction :( does anyone know if they have an actual shop in cairns cauase im going up there to visit my parents next month....

+1....... Used to be Matt Mladin Imports........I got a GPX 2 piece there last year, very happy with it, but from what others have said you need to check ALL the zippers.... or if you want a better quality brand at the same price, but they are ex track day hire suites...........

see here....

you'll find collins leathers on ebay. That is where the sell mostly from.

take the time to go out and try some one first to ensure you know what brand fits you best and what kind of general sizing you are (brands and sizes vary as always  )

Try and go for something that is
- Double and Triple stitched
- Zip together pants and jacket is a must for trackdays
- Stretch panels in the grion and innner elbow and arm.
- piano style stretch leather near the knees and on top of the bum around the back (aloows for movement)
- double layered panels on the bum a shoulders is always good also.

its a bit cheaper to deal with collins directly and you can talk through what you want.
but for $1500 you should be able to get a custom made suit.

After what happened to my Joe Rockets and the other stories I have heard about them I would not get them. I know of too many including mine that have come apart at the seams in crashes. Mine were replaced because they failed so bad but I don't really have the confidence in the replacement set and would love to swap them for another brand.

You're a skinny bastard Ben, so you should have no worries fitting into Dainese or Alpine star (unlike some of us  ) and from the sounds of it quite a few are happy with Collins so you have a few options available. Go out and try as many on as possible and see how they fit first and stick to any brand but Joe Rocket.

If your happy to spend $1500 go Daniese or Alpinestar. My 2pc Alpinestars held up pretty well from a slide at EC last year. 8)
