Define decent? ! !

There is fit and name, and prices high and lower.... Might try looking at what Laro Leathers could offer - being as Strathfield ain't a million miles from Lidcombe.... (just an idea).

You can spend shitloads and buy a top-of-the-line Alpine Stars or Dainese suit for a couple of grand, but I'd be looking at something cheaper. I've got a set of Collins leathers, as does my "twin" Glen. Neither of us have crashed in them, but I've seen a few guys at the track who have successfully tested them out. Collins are available directly from the manufacturer in Qld (http://www.collinsleathers.com/collins.html) starting at about $700/pair (ignore the website it's *way* out of date). If the fit isn't right you can send 'em back and he'll swap them over until you get a pair that fit.

Just for ride days, can't go past Rjays for value for money I reckon. Otherwise check the US online shops, many bargains to be had.

Keep a lookout on ebay too... just have to make sure the sizing is right before you buy.

I bought my 2 piece suit from a guy in Melbourne who'd worn it a couple of time before selling his bike. Practically brand new and exactly half the price of a new one...

And as per my HCSC role - i look damned sexy in it too... 8)

So who makes 2 piece suits for the 'larger' rider? I will need at least a 52 and from what I can gather from the web-sites R-Jays are the only ones that make them that large. Is the quality that bad in them? I hear mixed results, some say they are shit, while others say they are fine.

I had a set of R Jays in size 52. I've now got Collins leathers that fit perfectly.

I know loads of race guys who have had loads of crashes in Collins leathers and they appear to hold up pretty good in most cases. I can't say the same for some other "Big Name" suits! :? Ever ridden a Harley, they, for the most part, don't live up to the marketing hype!!!! ;)

I've gone down the road in a set of RJays leathers, and wore them for another 18 months afterwards....

Dave#3 said they had "street cred"

As long as they fit right, it's all good.

Collins two piece, these are the goods. Mine has a removable inner on the jacket, perfect for Winter.

With the Two piece I can wear the jacket only and know that it will cover more than just the upper half of my back. The more expensive brands, if you wear the jacket only it does not cover the bottom of your back leaving you exposed to potentially a nice gravel rash.

That was the only reason I went for Collins as I do not alway wear the pants and jacket together so I wanted a jacket that would cover the whole of my back.

Cheers,

Nick
