Waterproof Jacket/Pants

Postby Ratmick » Wed Oct 27, 2004 10:28 pm

Hi all,

Got caught in torrential rain today and spent a very wet hour in horizontal heavy rain and gale-force winds. And sitting with wet underwear while wearing work clothes is not a nice feeling

My Dianese pants, which were Gore-Tex lined, have given up the ghost, and I'm in the hunt for a replacement set. And probably a new jacket while I'm at it.

Ideally I'd like a pair which can zip onto the jacket so the current situation where:
* My Dianese jacket fills full of air and flaps about a bit. I've lost a bit of weight and there's a bit of spare room. There are no anti-flap straps inside.
* The jacket inflates itself so I look like the Michelin man.
* This causes a rush of air to pull my thermal top up and work shirt out my now-loose pants causing...
* Copious amounts of cold air up my back, freezing my kidneys, and..
* Rain to freeze my assets and render me brass-monkeyable.

Does anyone have a waterproof jacket and pants combo that zips together? I've had a look at the various Oz accessory web sites, but it looks like they are a rarity. Dianese, for some perverse reason, don't seem to entertain the idea.

BTW, I'm not after one of those naff emergency plastic raincoat things that people wear over their leathers, making them look like they are learing a luridly-coloured gt-striped full-body condom.

Many thankings!

Mate, I've seen yours, how do you think I was so specific in the description?

I was in the rain yesterday too..

I've got a pair of RJAY's wet weather pants.. their padded, and pretty comfy. never had them leak on me.

As for Jacket, I just weather my superbike jacket it's just nylon.. Seems to work a treat.

As bad as they look they work bloody well. The only problem I've ever had with mine was when the big flap at the bottom of the zip filled up with water after about an hour riding in heavy rain and it overflowed into my crotch...not a nice feeling. Not a drop got in anywhere else and even the overflow wouldn't have happened if I'd stuck my leg out once in a while.

The only other problem is it makes me look like the love child of the blue power ranger and the michelin man

why do all the ones that work make you look like 'son of Michelin Man'?
anything else you get wet and cold !

Mick
for what its worth, the only rainsuit that has ever kept me completely dry
has been one piece suits (that go over leathers) and yeah, you still look like
the Michelin man...

cheers
