Hot Weather Gear

Postby ross79 » Tue Oct 17, 2006 5:14 pm

I'm pretty sure this hasn't been covered.
The weather's starting to warm up and I'd like to know what people wear to stay cool in the 30+ degree heat when leathers aren't ideal. I've already ordered some kevlar jeans, and am planning to buy a mesh jacket pretty soon. Any opinions as to which are more affective in the heat?? I was thinking Rjays or Dri-rider as they look to be the cheapest.

I'm glad you started this thread, because I was wondering the same thing after my ride in 37 degree heat last week - on a black bike

I can see your point of view, but the negative is that once you get too hot you start losing concentration increasing your likelyhood of crashing. So in a way, wearing something that offers a little less protection can be safer.

i have several options.
1.jeans & leather jacket
2.motodry warm weather summer jacket & jeans.
3.leathers if scratching
4.squid gear

im keen to get a body armour suit so i can wear it under a tshirt without having to fully suit up, doesnt give much abrasion protection, but does give sum protection...

You just have to ride a naked bike, that helps a lot :D

Wear leathers and sweat it out I say !! the gash in my leg reminds me to wear leathers at all times

Those mesh jackets are pretty shite from what I can see, they offer little protection. Madkaw wears one and he looks like one of the village people, you can see his erect nipples through it as he winds on the throttle of the 10

I found a full vented STAGG leather jacket a couple of years ago, it keeps me coolish in summer.

Draggins and some sort of drimesh jacket, whichever one fits you best.

Problem though with most, including mine, is that they don't tighten around the ribs. In a slide the jacket can ride up exposing your tender undersides. None of the ones I looked at addressed that problem, so I just got one that fit and accept the risk. When I'm in hospital having my roadrash debrided I'd love to have someone read this back to me!

Still its much better than squiding and better than the plastic bag Nordic I have for winter.
Cheers
