IXON Nirvana Jacket (Ladies)

Postby Cath » Fri Sep 22, 2006 10:39 pm

Not sure if any of the women on the board have as much problems as I do in finding gear that fits well, but in case you do, I just wanted to have a quick rave about the IXON range, and specifically the Nirvana Textile jacket.

I love this jacket. I finally decided to try on some new gear (have been going around in a mens DRI RIDER and mens Draggins for way too long!) and was pleasantly surprised.

Pros:
- comes in a range of colours (i.e, more than just pastel blues and pinks, thank god - mine's black)
- comes in a range of sizes (i.e, more sizes than just itsy-bitsy cutesy-pillion size)
- has the expected soft armour in elbows and back (haven't had to trial these in a crash, but they don't appear to be substantially different to the ones in my old DRI RIDER)
- actually follows my body shape reasonably well (i.e, wide enough to fit hips and bust, fitted at the waist so that you don't feel like a michelin man). Bonus: because it actually fits well, the armour should stay where it is supposed to!
- internal pockets that are situated so that any contents sit below the bust, not squashing your boobs!
- has a back zip to zip jacket into pants
- warm quilted liner that was adequate for winter riding (apart from at 6:30am on the freeway, but nothing yet invented is warm enough to block THAT bitterness out!)
- with the quilted liner removed, it's quite cool, even though it isn't as cool as a mesh.

Cons:
- external poskets are closed via velcro only - I don't quite trust them to stay closed or hold anything I don't want to lose
- small embroidered flower on upper arm and neck - not my style, but finding something that fit so well and wasn't pink had me ecstatic enough to overlook it

Overall, IMO, it's a great versatile jacket. Great commuting wear for most weathers, fits like a glove, very comfortable when riding and looks reasonably flash.

Being a bit cuddly around the hips I have always had to wear men's gear as well. Recently, on Tanya's advice I bought an IXON Fantastic leather jacket and I am really happy with it. It fits well, is comfortable and well priced. A big thumbs up from me as well! qcheerleader.gif Image

Mohawk Miss, they are a good size in the shoulders as well, in fact possibly a little too roomy for me.

Well that settles it!

ATTENTION: All women who are wearing men's jackets (who knew there were so many of us!)
Next time you're in a half-decent bike shop, take 2 minutes and try on something from IXON's female range. Might not be what you're after, but on the other hand, it just might!

As far as half-decent goes: In NSW I've noticed BikeBiz at Parramatta usually have a fairly reasonable range in IXON gear. Other states care to chime in on good shops for women's gear?

I bought Monica a Ladies RJays jacket...

Fits really well and plenty of room for her boobies. None of the mens jackets fitted in all the right areas.

Her jacket didn't come with an inner liner so i bought her one... a long sleeved KSRC t-shirt...

I wouldn't call it a winter or summer jacket really... It's just a plain black leather jacket but shaped for the female form. :?

I bought a Joe rocket "roxie" leather jacket and love it. it also comes in a textile version

Only issue i have with womens stuff is: "why the hell does it cost more than the mens stuff?" we use it for the same thing and companies use the same material so why charge us a couple of hundred more?

my rant over.

In Canberra both Action and CMCC have a good range of IXON gear - I got my winter pants from CMCC and the jacket from Action. I think Hal at TJ's also has some Ixon gear in

Joe Rocket is also good, I've got the Trixie (I think, maybe Roxie) leather pants in black and they are fantastic. Not real keen on the flowers on the side though!
